Remarks
The admission criteria are based on several parameters. The first qualifying parameter is to clear the cut-offs of CAT/ XAT/ CMAT/ GMAT score. The CAT cutoff lies around 85 %ile and CMAT is 90%ile. The admission occurs in two cycles. The pros of the institute are its startup incubator program which is supported by NITIE Ayog under the umbrella of Central Government, its erudite faculty, its large green campus. The cons include its comparatively high fees and lack of any scholarship program.
Course Curriculum Overview
The overall score is based on performance in midterm and end-term examinations, projects, assignments and in-class performance. There is a total of 6 terms in the entire 2-year program. The student-faculty ratio is 20:1. The faculty pool includes acclaimed researchers and academicians as well as experts from the industry. I chose the course to explore more in the field of marketing. GLIM, Chennai records the majority of placements in the field of sales & marketing post the BFSI sector. (BFSI-38.5% and Sales & Marketing-35.8%). The exams are held on a trimester basis.
Internships Opportunities
The key recruiters who participated in summer placements are Bridgestone, Karls Store, ITC, Dell, Outlook, Ninjacart etc. The job profiles offered are of management executives, business development, project management etc. The average stipend offered is Rs. 84,800.
Placement Experience
The highest package offered is Rs. 21.5 Lakhs CTC. The average package for 10% of the batch is Rs.17.58 Lakhs CTC. 100% of students obtain offers an on-campus placement round. However, students are free to opt-out. The key recruiters are CRISIL, DELL, ITC, Nippon, Infosys, Ford, Angel Broking etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees are Rs 19.25 lakhs. The fees breakup includes: Tuition fee- Rs 10.1 lakhs, program fee- Rs.576000, housing & food charge- Rs324000, caution deposit- Rs.10000 (Refundable) and alumni subscription- Rs.5000. The fees are subject to changes. There is no scholarship program available.
Campus Life
The classrooms are high tech supported and wi-fi enabled. The students have access to the library, e-resources and 'n' number of case studies from Ivy Institutes. There are many student committees to name a few- Branding & PR Committee, Placement Committee, Competition Committee, Karma Yoga Committee etc. The student clubs include the Marketing club, Editorial Team, Endowment and sponsorship Club. The events include Sanghmitra and l'Attitude.
Interview Experience
The topic of my group discussion was 'Ban of tobacco cultivation. There were 12 students in one group- 6 for and 6 against the motion. The group discussion was well structured. The personal interview included two panellist- one faculty and the other one was a visiting faculty who was also an industry expert. The interview questions included my comment on the Education policy of India, data mining, design thinking applied by various companies and my future goals.
