Remarks

Registrations close by the second week of January. The GD-PI rounds occur end of February to the end of March. The course commences from April onwards. It accepts the scores of CMAT/ GMAT/ CAT/ XAT. The cut-off of CAT and XAT lies around 80 to 85 %lie. The GMAT cut-off score is around 600. The admission process is-A)Entrance Exams, B)Shortlists for GD-PI, C)GD-PI round, D)Release of merit list and E) Online Seat Alignment. The pros of the institute include its location-Mumbai. Mumbai is considered an Industrial Hub of India. It has also got a rich alumni base and decent placements.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The fees for the two-year program is lump-sum Rs.17.36 Lakhs. However, it is subject to change with updated library, pedagogy and course curriculum. The student-faculty ratio is 20:1. The teachers here are all having teaching experience of more than 10 years. 81% of faculty holds doctoral degrees. There are a total of 6 terms- 3 in the first year and 3 in the second year. An orientation week is also held before course commencement. The overall score is based on quizzes, presentations and projects. Every project is run through a plagiarism check and the institute does not tolerate more than 20% similarity in projects submitted.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

I was offered an internship opportunity in the financial service sector. The average stipend offered is around Rs. 19000 per month and the highest being Rs. 1.45 lakhs per month. The duration of the internship is 8-11 weeks. The companies participating in the process include Quikrr, FedEx, Canon, Blue star, DCB Bank etc.

Placement Experience

3.5

The average package offered is Rs 11.01 lakhs. The highest package offered lies in the range of Rs.25 to 28 lakhs. 99.12% of students get placed. 161 recruiters participate in the placement process, to mention a few- Accenture, Aditya Birla Group, Ambuja Cement, Puma, Minex Metallurgy, zomato, delivery, KPMG, Asian paints, Sharekhan etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees are around Rs 17 lakhs. K J Somaiya offers a vast number of scholarships- need-based, merit-cum-means based, research fellowship, subject-based and interest-based. It is easy to obtain a loan against the fees of the institute as the college is highly reputed and offers decent placements.

Campus Life

4

The most exciting annual events at the institute include Confluence, Nostalgia, Pangea, Elaan-e- Yudh, National Retail event, Samavesh, Anveshan etc. Students are offered access to case studies, various software and e-books. The student clubs include FORSE, CII-Yi, Quantinnum, Gita Club, Women development cell, Toastmaster Club etc.

Interview Experience

4

The GD occurs in a very orderly manner. In my, there was a total of 12 participants and three panellists. The topic was AI replacing Human Capital. We were given 2 minutes to brainstorm and then the discussion started. Post 10 minutes each one of us was asked to summaries our opinions and decision. The PI involved two panellists -both were visiting faculty at KJ Somaiya. The PI questions included- the experience of my internship with a start-up, my inclination towards foreign language, hobbies, my opinion of women empowerment and fields where it must not be brought in etc.

Placement Experience:

During my time the first company that visited our organization was Naukri.com, and feel proud to say that i got placed in the same organization. I am very happy with my placement. But talking about my peers. Number of companies who visited to our institute was compared to low as per our expectations. Majority of the companies who visited the institute were sales based organizations. Very less companies for finance and HR field. This made a difficult call for students.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenerio at our caollege can be described as average overall. Most recruiting company belong to the banking and supply chain sectors. Marketing students generally have better placement opportunities, while finance and HR students do get job, though the package are not very high. Buswiness analytics has limited scope as very few companies visit the campus for the roles in that domain.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I did choose this course as I am genuinely interested in management and if it is healthcare management that makes me excited. There is a different teaching faculty for each and every subject. The faculties are highly qualified market professionals and experts who teach in an extremely interactive and practical way. They are very supportive. There was one exam conducted per semester which included projects and written exams.
