Life and Afterlife of a MANIT student

Well according to the rank that I have got in the mains examination, this was the best to get enrolled in. It's an old institute, with a huge campus with good faculty. The admission process was easy. You need to report first at your state NIT then at the time of admission, you need to reach the main college that you have been assigned after the last round of counseling. You need to take all the desired documents specified by JEE to their official site. The faculty doing the admission were nice and helpful. Seniors also helped in managing the documents and provided other assistance in form filling etc. I have checked its ranking and cutoff on google previously so that I could keep my college preference in order.

I chose the computer science stream, as this college has approximately 100% placement of CSE students, not all at very good packages but it's good. Even the student who passed by a little margin can get a job of approx 5 lpa. There is a good faculty to students ratio and that will be visible during labs or other classes when more faculty is required. Most of the faculty are well qualified and taught really well except for some. Exams and classes of this college are very regular and strictly follow every schedule that has been mentioned earlier. Exams are not very difficult, if you have attended the classes regularly and carefully, classes are enough to pass the semester but not enough for other competitions.

You have to pass their test to get the internship. And also after successful completion of the internship, you will be provided a pre-placement opportunity i.e PPO. Mainly basic works are provided to the intern like making a subsidiary site for the company, checking the errors in previously made sites, or any other problems. Projects like building software in a specific language for a specific work will be given and based on your work the rating and grading will be provided by the company.

There are good placement opportunities in this college especially for students of the IT stream. Several big IT companies like Amazon, Samsung, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Flipkart, and many more visit every year for placement as well as a paid internship with PPO available after completion. A college internship is available only after passing 2nd year, but you can do an internship outside even from the first year. Students who choose the IT stream even if they are from other branches get good placement. There are not very good placement opportunities for core branches, they have to apply for GATE exams or higher studies to get placed.

The fee structure is more or less similar to the rest of the colleges. You will have to pay some admission fees, then semester-wise academic college fees, and if you are a hosteller, the hostel fee along with the mess. Several scholarships are available on NSP. There are more for home state students i.e for MP students, but there are numerous internship opportunities to earn. Since I am in my second year I don't have any job as such to write about but soon as we reach the third year, the company will start hiring.

Life at the campus is delightful. We all are missing that due to this pandemic. The annual fest is also conducted twice a year by ROOBARO the society of MANIT responsible for conducting these cultural fests. Our last year's performer was famous Bollywood singer Asees Kaur. There are several societies in our college. Version Beta, Robotics Society, ISTE coding society and Inspire, the spiritual society. We also have large grounds for all outdoor sports like cricket, football, lawn tennis, badminton and also indoor games like table tennis, basketball court and many more. We have a large classroom with large windows making the atmosphere inside cool during summer. We have large space in the classroom, like one big bench for every single student and installed projectors and mic and sound in each classroom.

Hostels of MANIT are very large with big playgrounds for playing or keeping cycles. The rooms given in the first year were not quite big but it was good with two doors at both sides and windows for good passage of air. There were beds and pre-installed almirahs and marble-made desks to study with chairs. The hostel fee was a little high, but the mess was good at that price of 12000 per semester. You will get food four times with different varieties. The menu has covered the food from north India to south India. There is also a cooperative shop available to supply daily needs things like soap biscuits oil etc. The registration process is easy. You will get a hostel if you want as soon as you complete your admission process in college.
