Remarks

The college I studied in was well equipped and with one of the finest teaching staff. The admission process was easy based on my 12th marks PCB aggregate. I studied in Garden city college of Physiotherapy under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science (RGUHS) which has a very well-managed syllabus for the BPT course. However, my college has become autonomous and is now Garden City University. The syllabus and teaching techniques are not as good as Rajiv Gandhi University here. I learned about my college from siksha.com. I would rather recommend a college under the RGUHS if looking for a medical college.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

BPT comes under Health Sciences hence this course. As per Garden City University - GCU ( because there is no GCC now) the intake per year is around 120 students divided into two divisions hence 60 per class. Most of the teaching is based on PowerPoint presentations and students are encouraged more on doing assignments on the basis of which marks are given. The teaching staff is well qualified and as per the covid norms, the classes are being conducted online. The examination pattern is semester-wise, a total of 8 semesters with the clinical postings starting from the second year. The exams I would say are not that difficult as compared to the RGUHS.

Internships Opportunities

4

The internship has to be done in only NABH accredited private hospitals and government hospitals. There are a lot of hospitals available that take Physiotherapy interns. Some have compulsory 6 months internship in their hospitals while in others one month minimum. We do not receive any stipend although we have to pay a sum ranging from 1,000-10,000 in few hospitals for doing an internship. We don’t have to pay in all the hospitals though.

Placement Experience

4

There are no placements provided. After the completion of the course of 4, there is a 6 monthly internship program. It has to be done in only the NABH accredited private hospitals and government hospitals. After that, you can work as a physiotherapist in a hospital or you can open your own Physiotherapy center after getting a license from the Indian Association of Physiotherapy (IAP).

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure varies from 40,000-80,000 Indian rupees per semester depending upon the scholarship if you’ve received any. The scholarship is based in your 12th PCB marks or the common entrance exam score ( NEET/CET). Jobs are not based on on-campus interviews as it is a medical course.

Campus Life

4.5

There is an annual fest organized by the university (GCU) called Gardenia. It is a national level fest and all other colleges are invited to participate in various events. There are cash prizes for the winners in various events. There is also a sports meet organized by the BPT department every year. There’s a basketball court, badminton court, and a football ground. An auditorium and 2 well-equipped libraries are there in the campus. With food courts and cafeterias, students can chill during break time and off lectures.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

There’s a two-sharing and single sharing room. Room size a small but a study table, chair, and closet is provided for each. The hostel food honestly is very good. There is quite a variety available for all three meals and it tastes good too. There are evening snacks and tea/coffee provided as well.

Interview Experience

3.5

No there was no group discussion or a personal interview. The admission is directly based on the entrance exam score or the 12th aggregate marks. The 12th PCB aggregate marks should be 50% to be eligible for admission.

Timing of exams are fine. Course curriculum can be given earlier and things can be taught properly rather than reading out from a powerpoint. This really makes a huge difference. Along with curriculum they provide the materials to refer as well.
