Remarks
I was going for JEE preparation but somehow I had to quit and buy that time I did not search for any college for an alternate option and was perplexed to choose an institute that could provide me with a course in computer specialization and Poornima University was suggested by my friend (classmate) who already have taken admission in this University. As I had no idea about how to choose a good college based on our interest and 12th score so I took admission when my friend recommended Poornima University as among the best Universities for Computer Engineering Universities in Rajasthan. But when I started to study there then I realised that how third class faculty system was there except some too good teachers. It becomes very tough for a Hindi medium student when he goes for higher education. Our institute was a famous computer engineering for Just a say. We used to work on Pirated Windows 7 or 8 and tools was based on 1990s technology. We used to write our code on notepad.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I wanted to know since my childhood that how things work on a machine in the background. The faculty-student ratio was not too good. Most of the time we did not get a teacher for the same subject when our subject teacher was on leave. Most of the teachers were having an M.Tech degree but their knowledge was not even of B.Teck level. Even some BTech passed teacher were teaching over there. The teaching method was the worst I have ever seen in my entire life. No proper notes only ppt classes no doubt sessions student spent sleepless nights doing just 2 marks assignments. Practicals were limited to fill practical notebooks only no proper practical knowledge. The exam schedule is too bad. It had to take 2 exams in a single day back to back in the entire degree.
Internships Opportunities
I got an internship after the 6th semester in a local company that provide internships to students and professionals. I was in FORSK Labs and some other companies are C.DAC Jaipur etc. Need to complete at least one minor project and one major project to get qualify for the internship.
Placement Experience
students can sit in a job interview in the last semester of their degree. TCS, Infosys, Capgemini, L&T etc. visits campus for placements. TCS offers an average of 4-8 lac per annum package. Capgemini offers an average of 2-7 lac per year package. Students who get qualify for the exams conducted by the company can sit for a Job interview. Some companies select students on a percentage basis too. I am preparing for the Gate exam to get a good package in a product based company.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is bad at this level that you can't sit in the exam even after the gov. has ordered that no student should be out of the exam hall just because he/she did not deposit the fee. I had financial problems while in college so I was tortured a lot for the fee. Even after this, I had to pay a very heavy fine for the fee. The Dean (Amit Gupta) and registrar (Chandni Kriplani) of the University are very rude to the student. They are the dictator of higher management. People at the fee window are also too rude and unprofessional. I didn't get a scholarship even after I was eligible. They told me that you got late admission so you are not eligible but a student in my class got admission in August and she still got the scholarship.
Campus Life
Annual fest held every year named LAKSHYA. Books are not that good in the library and the management of LIbrary is too rude except one madam. Internet in the library is too slow. In fact, you are charged very high (higher than 4G for 3G experience) for Wi-Fi in the institute (But they promised to provide free Wi-Fi in the brochure). I got fined for a book throughout my whole degree that I didn't even read in my entire degree. Though classes were quite well (Only for the Computer branch) when we came in the second year. When I went to play for University they didn't even provide us attendances even after the game was the favourite of the co-founder. There was no proper support for games and no proper ground. There is no social group in my mind which was by students for the students.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel charges were too high (Now you have to pay 90K+ for a room of two students with a single fan). The room with ducting was 1 lck+. A basic steeled chair and wall fitted desk for study. Food is fourth grade. You will get food poisoning (even some students left the hostel just because of food and I was one of them). The registration process is too trick you have to pay half money to book a room and other extra charges. Living outside of a hostel was not too easy for a student in Jaipur because many people don't give rooms for rent to boy students especially. Rents are too high for students.
