Remarks
IIT Kanpur is one of the best tech institutes in India. Being one of the oldest IIT's, it has a vast culture. It is best equipped with all the necessary needs that an institute should have. Yes, the city of Kanpur is not that good but each place has its pluses and minus. The admission was smooth as it was totally online this time. The admission process was started on the 12th of November, general admission takes place in July but due to pandemic, it happened in November. I used to search for the colleges on Collegedunia and Collegedekho sites and also reads reviews on Quora.
Course Curriculum Overview
It is my first year, so I was allotted institute compulsory courses, there were no optional courses in 1st year. The course material covers all the knowledge of the course. The professors are well qualified and supportive. The student-faculty ratio is 35:1. There was a regular evaluation by taking quizzes and mid-semester and end-semester exams. It is not difficult to pass the exams if you are regular in your studies.
Internships Opportunities
There are many companies that offer internship opportunity to the students of IIT Kanpur. Generally, internships are given in 3rd-year companies like Flipkart and TATA offers internships. It is always good to do interns.
Placement Experience
IIT Kanpur has excellent placements. about 85% of students got selected in different fields of jobs such as core jobs, software, finance etc. The highest package was 150 LPA and the average package is around 15 LPA. My plan, for now, is to getting placed with a decent salary.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are many scholarships available for economically weak students, you did not need to worry about this aspect as the institute always remains in support of students. I am not getting any scholarship right now.
Campus Life
The campus is has a variety of activities going on. There is a very rich culture in fields such as dance, music to science and technology. The annual fest of college is Antaragani happens in November, and the tech fest is Techkriti happens in march books are easily available in the library. The Student Gymkhana is a student body run wholly by students.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are well equipped and well maintained. Washrooms are highly maintained and cleaned regularly. The quality of food available in mess is good and also each hostel has its own canteen. The hostels are located inside the campus only.
