B.Sc in Chemistry in Midnapore College (Autonomous)

No doubtedly my college is one of the best Autonomous colleges in our country.It scores 3.6/4 with a grade of A+ in the 3rd cycle visit of NAAC. Moreover Chemistry dept.is very much effective with lots of scope in lab work.A large number of students(almost 20-25) cracked various All India M.Sc entrance exams like JAM,TIFR,BHU,HCU,DU, and so on every year.I heard that all faculties are very much student-friendly and the atmosphere of this college is very much suitable for a student.The library and reading room really attract me very much.Due to all of these, I have chosen the Chemistry Department of Midnapore College. Now,there are also some bad things in my college like the campus of our college is not so big, though a second campus is started to build.WiFi facility is not so good. The admission procedure- You have to fill the form online and wait for the declaration of the list of selected candidates.If you are selected you have to come to campus and take part in counseling with physical verification.

I choose Chemistry because since class 11 I like this subject and for this, my college is one of the best options. There are almost 18-20 faculty members including part-time teachers and 6-7 lab assistants in both the morning and day section. And almost 80-90 students in total in both sections.so there is a 4:1 students teachers ratio. Many of the facilities have done PhD and postdoc abroad or in the prestigious institutions in India like IIT, NIT, IISER. In one semester there are 2 internal exams and one End Semester Exam. The exam may be tough or moderate or easy depends on the teacher.

If you are selected for any project or internship outside the campus institution will help you in every aspect. But the total procedure for applying and selecting an internship is totally upon you.

Truly speaking there are no search-good options for placement in college. As it is a general college there are very few chances to get a job after doing graduation. But students can go in various prestigious institutions after completed the course like IIT,NIT,IISER,IISc or other good universities. Just for an example, I am now doing my M.Sc from IIT Kanpur after doing BSc from here

Fees per semester are almost 6000-7000. In 1st sem, you have to pay the admission fees/seat booking fee extra. I think this is quite cheaper than the other institutions and you will get a lot of facilities in this price. You will get all the scholarships of the West Bengal Govt. like SVMCM, OASIS,KANYASHREE,Nabanna Scholarship or the central govt scholarship like INSPIRE

One of the most things that attract me very much is the library room of our college and obviously the reading room and digital reading room. The library consists of a lot of books and journals which you can take home or you may read in the reading room as much as you want it and all the books and journals are available in PDF in the digital reading room. Daily newspaper II in Bengali English and Hindi language is also available. Yes, no doubtedly campus of my college is very beautiful. It has a garden,a cactus house, space for sitting under the the trees a basketball ground, sky observation centre, gym, a stor including xerox, a beautiful two storied auditorium hall and many things. Our college takes part in inter College cricket, football and basketball championships. An annual sport is held in every year and goes on 3 days. An annual cultural programme was held in every year also. Students of our college take part in this and also renown singers music bands kam to take part in this program.

There is no entrance exam for admission.Total admission procedure is based on merit or the marks obtained in the class 12 exam. You have to score a good mark in total and in that subject in which you want to take admission. If you matched the criteria and you are selected in the list you have to come to college for an offline counseling procedure. Here your physical verification will be done and you have to show all the original documents like identity proof, marksheet of class 12,marksheet of class 10, certificate of class 10 and 12, and caste certificate if you belong to the 2nd quota.
