St. Xavier's College Kolkata is the first autonomous college of Kolkata and was ranked 7th in the NIRF Ranking 2020. The college as such doesn't hold any admission tests for the UG programs except for BMS , BSc mass communication and videography. The selection is solely done on the basis of merit i.e. on the marks obtained by the candidates in the 12th standard.
Course Curriculum Overview
My sheer interest in the area of commerce has led to me choose b.com(hons) and when it comes to St Xavier's College Kolkata it's one of the best choices to go further in the field of commerce. It has highly qualified professionals most of them holding a Ph.D. in their respective disciplines. The teachers are very cooperative and supportive towards their students and equip them with knowledge in various fields.
Placement Experience
The placement cell of the institute provides ample opportunities for the students to showcase their talent to different companies. Mostly around 80% of the students get placements. The Average package was INR. 6 LPA and more than 5 companies offered above INR 10 LPA. The highest package was offered by D. E. Shaw of INR 21 LPA. Many recognized companies like L&T, Zomato , Deloitte, wipro , ICICI Bank, Infosys, HDFC Bank, etc. were part of it.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees is roughly 6000 per month divided into 3 quarters. The exam fee i.e. 1000 per semester which is taken separately while filling up the exam form. Scholarships are provided to the economically backward and fees concession is given to those in need.
Campus Life
The college has all the amenities required by the students. The library has a rich collection of around 69000 books, old and rare books , valuable reference books, journals, education CDs/DVDs and other resources for the use of it's members. Classrooms are large and spacious which are capable of accommodating a large number of students without cramping. They are surrounded by large spacious verandahs for students to move and breathe freely. Offices, laboratories, library are all computerized for providing faster and better services. The college fest i.e. The Xavotsav is a 3 day event which holds numerous number of sub events which has events with singers and actors.
