Remarks
St. Xavier's to me was a dream and now I am living my dream. The institute provides a wide plethora of subjects from which we could choose. I, being a Commerce student found the B. Com course to be the most promising. Since we graduated high school in a pandemic the admission procedure was quite different than what my seniors had been through. The application procedure was same as before, i.e. we had to fill an online application form. It was followed by filling the details of our board results after which the candidates who fulfilled the criteria were shortlisted.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Bcom as I am interested in the field of finance, how the markets function, how to invest, all these factors excite me. The faculty student ratio is 1:80 roughly. The faculty is very helpful and the professors help in clearing doubts even after college hours via mail. The teaching method is pretty effective and is done through PPTs. The resources provided by the professors are sufficient and provide a helpful guide for preparing for the term exams. Term exams were conducted quite timely. The papers were standard and were not very difficult to clear.
Internships Opportunities
The Placement Cell offers great opportunities for internships to those students who are eligible for internship. The companies are invited to take part in the recruitment drive. The companies enlighten the students about their company profile through PPTs which is followed by the students registering for the interview, which comprises of a written exam followed by a group discussion and personal interview.
Placement Experience
Students are required to do a compulsory internship in the 6th semester and become eligible for campus placement in the 6th semester itself. Since I am in 2nd semester student I don't know much about the companies visiting and the details thereafter. I plan to pursue MBA after completing my graduation.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees is around 26400 per quarter and an extra 1000 is charged twice as exam fee along with the normal fee. apart form this, the cost to study depends on the books one wishes to purchase ad the number of tuitions one decides to take. Though for me the cost of tuitions is nil as I find it to be very distracting. It totally depends on one's personal choice.
Campus Life
Xavier's is famous for its Xavotsav, its annual fest. It is an event that Xavierians whether alumni or the current batch of students eagerly wait for. It is a national level annual fest organized by the college students' council. It usually takes place in the month of January. It has been graced by the presence of Euphoria, Hard Kaur and many more artists. As the pandemic persists we have been given online access to study materials by the college authorities.
Interview Experience
Usually to get admission into Xavier's one must clear the written exam which solely depends on the course one chooses, followed by an interview which is compulsory for all irrespective of the course one chooses. Clearing both the written exam as well as interview is a must for getting admission provided the course chosen. Considering the pandemic we had extensively an online admission, followed by an online verification of the documents.
