Remarks

The good aspect of my college i.e Shikhayatan would be that it has one of the best faculty members and facilities available with the topmost placement cell. The bad aspect would be that it is a girls' college so competition is not much. The admission process includes the submission of an application form then the college will screen the forms of every applicant and will choose the best students. They will then mail or message the students if they are selected or not. Once selected they are called to college for physical verification of documents. Admissions usually take place 2 times a year that is 6 times in 3 years at an interval of every 6 months as it is a semester pattern. The reason to prefer this college against others will be same as the good aspects of the college. Best faculty available, Very cordial and friendly environment with very comfortable classrooms. I had actually heard about this college from my seniors and did my research on google and chrome.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I choosed this course because I always had an interest in the commerce and accountancy field. There are around 300-400 faculty members with a total number of students being 4000 approximately. Every faculty member is very well qualified to teach. Some are even pursuing their PhD. Exams happen every 6 months i.e. 2 times a year. The level of question paper is quite high but if one studies following teachers guideline, then they can come out with flying colours.

Placement Experience

4

Form 4th semester students are eligible for campus placements. A number of companies visit every year in our college every year like PWC, Wipro, indigo, omnifin, Deloitte, decathlon, trust club, nerdy turtle's, rewards, reverse factor. Every company recruited a minimum of 7-10 students or more. Some big companies like PWC, Deloitte, Decathlon, Wipro offered an annual package of 2.5-3 lakhs while others offered 2 lakhs. 70-75% of students got placed from our college. I am planning to do my masters at Calcutta University.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are quite high in Shri Shikshayatan College. For poor people, it can be tough but there are certain scholarship programs as well. Fees hike is not a major issue as it does not hike rapidly. For scholarships, there is a fee waiver scheme, educational loan facility, financial help. A number of big companies come for placements like PWC, Wipro, Deloitte, omnific and many more with an average stipend of 10k and more.

Campus Life

4

The annual fest of Shri Shikshayatan College is SRIJAN. It happens in the month of February every year. There are also other events that happen during the year like Podium, intra-college debate, annual function etc. Every kind of book, books of every subject, topics and journals of all kind can be found in the library including newspapers. There is 3-4 air condition in every classroom with 5-6 fans depending on the size of a classroom. Classrooms are large with enough space for 150-200 students. Hand mics and projectors are also available in every classroom for the smooth conduction of classes. There is a Debsoc society for people who are interested in debates. Then there is a Women's Association for empowering women of our college, a drama club for girls interested in drama. Also, there is a students council that handles students grievances and solves them with the help of teachers.

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.
