Remarks
I chose this University as it was in the best city of MP i.e. Indore. Also, it provides BA (Hons) in English Literature which was not available in many colleges of MP. The admissions are merit based. Many alumni from Vaishnav also gets admission easily. The admission process starts every year in July and carries on up to September. However, I faced some difficulties as my course only started in the year 2018 when I joined the college. There was exposure to many activities but not in terms of placements. I heard the name of the college after repetitive ads of the same from Dainik Bhaskar.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course as it fully focuses on the aspects of English Literature. Hons includes all the subjects of the course. So I had subjects like Poetry, Business Communication, Prose, History of English Literature in 1st year. Then Indian Literature, Drama, Ethics, EVS, Linguistics in 2nd year. The final year has a Research Project, American Literature, Short Story, Technical Communication, and Literary Criticism. The HOD of Humanities Department is Mrs. Roopa Shinde. The other assistant professors are Mrs. Pamila Neema, Dr. Sheetal Jain, Dr. Anurag Joshi, Dr. Suchita Mishra, Dr. Shilpa Phadnis, Dr Nobert Solomon. All the faculty members have different expertise. They are the best faculty with ample knowledge of what they teach. The syllabus is designed in such a manner that a student continues the same syllabus Period wise in English Literature. Teachers take classes regularly and 75% attendance is a must. The students who does not fulfill this criteria is detained from giving exams. The exams are held regularly. Each semester has two mid semesters of 20 marks each and final exam of 60 marks. The exams are not that difficult to pass.
Internships Opportunities
Yes. I have done six internships as of now. The four were from NGOs, so there were no stipends. The first one was as a Digital Marketing from 'Hamari Pahchan'. The second as a 'Content Writer' in 'Naya Sawera', 'Yash Sewa Samiti'. Then, as a 'Social Media Marketing Intern' in 'Crazy for Success Foundation'. I did another intern as a 'Content Writer' in 'WhiteHat Jr' for a month with a stipend of 1200/-. I am a 'Freelance Content Writer' for Collegedunia Web Pvt Ltd. The stipends varies as per the article limit for the approved articles.
Placement Experience
Since my course is still afresh, I don't know anything as per now. However, BA students got a chance to sit for Shiksha.com which gave the package of INR 4.5 LPA. The company offered Content Writing, Marketing profiles to students. Some students didn't go for it as they were UPSC aspirants. There is no information for placements because of COVID. I will pursue masters in English after this degree.
College Events
The social life in the campus is overwhelming. Fests occur every month for different departments. The annual fest of three days takes place in March known as 'Spandan'. The other fests are Vinirmah (Jan), Pravah (Mar), Spardha (Apr), Kavyanjali (Mar), SVVVIMUN (Sept), Anveshan (Nov), Confluence (Dec), Sanmantrana (Mar), Sahityavithi (Oct), Rachnaand (Oct), Udgam (Dec), Navrachana (Dec), Vedika (Nov), Sanrachana (Dec), etc. The Learning Resource (LSC) of SVVV has 48000+ and 120+ national and international research journals. The seating capacity isof 250 students. The LRC provides membership and subscription to 11000 E-journals and 20000+ E-books on internet. The classrooms have a white board, benches, windows, and a podium. Sports is essential for SVVV and fest Spardha is specifically for it. Students can play volleyball, football, basketball, kabaddi etc. in the campus. The social groups are Prayatna, Manas, Vicharak, Rotaract etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
I got Merit Scholarship for having 8.5+ CGPA. There are scholarships for Vaishnav School alumni and SC/ST/OBC
Campus Life
The campus has 8-9 buildings with Sports Complex, Auditoriums, IBM Labs, Computer Labs, Science Labs, Basketball court, Canteen, Wi-Fi facilities, Transport facilities and two libraries in the campus. The labs have updated equipment and are used thoroughly by the students.
Hostel Facilities
No, I haven't opted for hostel. The hostel is not in the university but in the city limits. The hostel is far as per Indore's city center. Some students avail bus services to reach the college. The bus facilities directly picks up students from the hostel and drops them to the university. I opted for a PG as it was more feasible and in the center of Indore.
