Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is a bit outdated, the labs and equipment are very old. But the teachers are well Experienced and will clear all doubts. Self learning is encouraged. Industry visits were done in 2,3,4th year. 4th year also has Internship for the students in a research facility or Industry
Placement Experience
Internships opportunities are provided by the college placement cell during 3rd year. And placement training is given after the end of 3rd year. During 4th year numerous companies attend the placements. Decent packages are offered.
College Events
BMSCE is known for its two fests, BMSCE Utsav which is cultural fest, and BMSCE Phaseshift which is a technical fest. Both fests are No.1 in whole Karnataka. During Utsav many national and international performers visit the fest and many competitions are also conducted.
Fee Structure And Facilities
For me the fees as a Government sponsored candidate was around 22k per year. Hostel fees along with mess is 1,25,000 approx.Transparency is less, some random charges are added in the fee structure.Exam fees is included in the fees. But for makeup and Fastrack we have to pay additional fees.
Fees and Financial Aid
No I haven't opted for any scholarship. Scholarship is provided for top rankers of the department. Minority category students are also provided scholarship by government.
Campus Life
Campus Life was one of the best I have seen. BMSCE has more than 20 technical and cultural clubs. Ragging is almost non existent. Gender ratio is around 1 girl for 2-3 boys in overall campus. In mechanical engineering, there are hardly 3-4 girls for 120 strong batch.
Hostel Facilities
Yes I had opted for the hostel facility. In 1st and 2nd year, we had twin sharing room, in 3rd and 4th Year we had single room. There is bed, table, cupboard in each room. No attached bathroom, it is common facility. Wifi and LAN facility is available. Mess food is very good compared to other colleges. Veg food is included in the price, for non veg, extra amount is charged.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni is very helpful. Alumni meeting happens every year in December. Seniors in campus are also very helpful and they are friendly.
Admission
I got admission through Karnataka CET exam.After result declaration, the counselling and documents verification was done. Then we were supposed to choose the college and course we want. Based on allotment in 3 rounds, we can take admission in the college
Faculty
Around 25 faculty in Mechanical engineering department, almost all of them are PhDs. They have around 10-15 years experience on average, with some senior professors. There are some professors who had worked in Industry before joining Academics. Few professors are not interested in teaching, and are boring in the lectures.
