Arthi R's Review On Karpagam College Of Engineering - [KCE], Coimbatore

I wrote Tamil Nadu entrance exam for engineering and i had scored a total of 258/300 and in all the colleges which was present at the counselling Karpagam was the fast growing college in shot span.

When we did engineering our ECE electives were chosen good we did differently than other colleges and course we had Medical electronics and Software computing(Neural networks). But there was no focus on research as such. We did not had any mini projects. We had only final year project. Our HOD was giving ideas and encouraging us to do research projects which can be further enhanced.

As far as i know it was not providing internship. We had on campus placements but there was no internship and a stipend provided.

Placement was average and in my class 2/4th of the students only were placed. Companies like Infosys which took most of the people which were selected in the placements. Steria, Dyan infotech, jasmine infotech, etc these were the few companies which came that time of the placement.

We had lot of events conducted in our colleges. Symposiums were all conducted by various Courses and who ever was interest was allowed to attend the sessions conducted by experts from outside. And we were allowed to present papers in the symposiums. We had IEEE committee also in the college.

The fee structure is normal for students who get selected in the counselling. For rest of them it was higher. They bus fee is more as the college is not having much govt bus facilities. Fee structure is as per the Anna university norms . When i was there it was 34000 fee and examination fee of 200 per paper and 10000 for bus.

I don't have any idea about college offering scholarship or loan facilities. But we can avail Education loan with the college provided quote for the 4 years course completion.

Gender ration is distributed depending on the subjects. On average if you consider whole college it will be 40 to 60 ration of female/ male. We have every year college cultural in which students will be able to portray their talents. We have symposium for technical stuffs. There is no religion preferences.

I have not been in the hostel. But as far as i heard from my friends the hostel rooms were fine and there was a sharing of 4 basis per room. The food in the mess is having lots of varieties but the quality of the food is not that good. It was manageable. Sometimes the foods are fine. PG rent will be around 1000 to 2000 per month.

Yeah the alumni network is good and we are still in contact with each other and every year there is a alumni meet. Seniors interactions are good and some are really helpful.

Exam structure was as per the Anna university. There will be 2 semester per year and lab examinations. It was not too hectic for us as there was leaves in between examinations. It was normal. Exams and labs was fine for us. We did not had much summer breaks though.

Our faculties were all qualified for the teaching of the particular subjects. Few of them were interesting to attend like our Mechanics paper, Electronics paper, Neural networks paper. Our HOD Muniraj sir class was the best among all. He would make us do examples and gives us lot of examples in real life. An share with us his experiences in the subject expertise.
