Remarks

For aspirants who end up with low scores in CAT, NMAT is one such exam that helps you to get into one of the top B-schools. After securing a cut-off of 190/360 (cut-off for 2020-22) in NMAT by GMAC, I was shortlisted for the CDPI process which was conducted in the Mumbai campus. The process was very smooth and was completed on 15th February 2020. Case Discussion (CD) consisted of 10-12 students per group and it was not an elimination round. Every person irrespective of their performance in the CD round got a chance to express themselves in the interview. The interview panel consisted of 3 people and most of the questions revolved around the Statement of Purpose which we had submitted. We all were mostly judged on the confidence we possessed and our interest in the course. I chose this college as it carries a brand value with it and the placements have been pretty decent. I visited a few websites like College Dunia to get a perspective before I stepped into the course.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose this course to acquire the requisite knowledge and experience to understand all business operations and planning. This will also help me in building my network across the business ecosystem and develop leadership skills. Most of the faculty possess a Ph.D. in their respective domain and have been industry experts for the past 10-15 years. They have been really insightful in solving case studies and acquire great industry knowledge. The visiting lecturers possess Ph.D. and they work with other reputed B-Schools as well. Despite the pandemic, the faculty conducted all our classes seamlessly. The exams were are open book exams and we had to solve various case studies. We had mid-trim exams and end-trim exams. The weightage for the Internal Assessment (includes class participation, projects, and mid-term exams) was 60% whereas the End-Term weightage was 40%.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Almost all of us received internship offers from companies like CRISIL, Mangal Fincorp, IDBI, and few consulting firms. A few of the students availed their internship from off-campus through their personal contacts. The internship projects are quite interesting and we can apply the concepts learned in our first year of MBA.

Placement Experience

3.5

Despite the pandemic, students have bagged PPOs from companies like Marico and CRISIL. In fact, Marico and CRISIL have been a few of the top recruiters. Almost all students of our senior batch of 120 students have been placed. Other top companies like Amazon, TCS, Infosys were the top recruiters.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee at NMIMS Hyderabad is INR 8.2 Lacs per year. This does not include the hostel fee. The hostel fee is approximately 2 Lacs per year which includes, Accommodation, Food, and other amenities. The overall cost is pretty high but the ROI has been pretty decent. Owing to the Pandemic, we have been taking online classes and we are expecting to experience physical classroom in the second year.

Campus Life

4

Our annual fest is Nirvahana supposed to be conducted in the month of February. Owing to the pandemic, Nirvahana 2021 was put on hold. All the clubs and committees collaborate with each other and organize a plethora of events. These events are exciting and a lot to learn from them. NMIMS Hyderabad has a total of 19 entities (clubs & committees). Branding & PR, Placement committee, E-cell, TedX are a few to name. The 19 entities are divided across three sections i.e., Committees, Domain-specific clubs, and Interest Clubs. A student from our batch could be part of 3 entities and Nirvahana (annual fest) too. We have learnt a lot from these entities and they are the fun part of the college. The students will get access to the library which has almost all the material to research upon by an MBA student. We can do primary & secondary research using all these resources and they are updated on a regular basis. Classrooms are all air-conditioned and is spacious environment to study and have fun

Hostel Facilities

3.5

We haven't been on campus due to the pandemic and hence we do not have a great idea about the hostel. The hostel is compulsory for all the students and the rooms are completely air-conditioned. As per the review given by our seniors, the hostel is pretty decent and the food is top-notch

Interview Experience

5

We had two rounds, Case Discussion, and a Personal Interview. Both the rounds are not eliminatory. The overall score and other criteria will be used to shortlist the candidates further. They would consider work experience (if any), overall academic performance, and other achievements. The case discussion will be about any business problem and we should be able to solve the same by discussing within the group. The interview will more or less revolve around the Statment of Purpose that we would have submitted. The most important thing to consider is to have immense confidence in what we say. More weightage is given to professionalism too. Never say anything on your SOP or Resume that you cannot define. This is how I got shortlisted. I would suggest everyone have good knowledge about their subjects or industry.

To settle in the good financial sector and to improve my skills. The student ratio is less in MBA courses. The faculty is less supportive. The faculty is well educated with Ph.D. and Doctraits, Method of teaching should be changed. There was no time for preparation for term exams. It was quite difficult to pass.
