Indian Institute of Technology ,Madras ,based in Chennai , has been ranked the best engineering Institute by National Institutional Ranking Framework for five consecutive years 2016,2017,2018,2019 and 2020. It has a very green campus situated in Guindy National Park, Chennai . It has an excellent culture of research and entrepreneurship. Hostels are good enough with all adequate facilities like laundry, mess etc. Almost everyone who sits for placements gets a job with fair enough salary ,All good companies like Google ,Microsoft, Facebook come to hire students here. Faculties are very well qualified with degrees from international and elite national universities. Overall the college is best in the country . Electrical Engineering is the second best department of engineering after computer science. The courses mostly move around topics like circuits, semi conductors and microprocessors. Placements are also very good with an average of 36 lacs/year. Faculties are of international reputation. The college has student faculty ratio of 16:1. Each student gets some assistant teachers apart from course faculties to help them with their doubts. Faculties are very well qualified with PhD and specialization in the courses from international and elite national universities. Teaching method is well tested and effective .However ,it may appear to be boring in few cases. Mostly two major exams happen at the end of each semester. Some quizzes also happens in between semester along with a few surprise ones in some courses. It is easy to pass if one listens to class or read reference materials and solve past year papers before exams.

Opportunities for stipend internships on all domains are provided in the college which caters to all years of students. Major companies includes Consultancy firms ,Google ,Microsoft, Intel ,Qualcomm etc. Various individual projects and start-ups are also catered in the institution .Students also get the opportunity to work under faculties in their research projects.

Placement records of IIT Madras is just incredible. Almost everyone gets placed with a decent salary through campus placements. 6th semester onwards students become eligible for sitting in placements while internship opportunities are open for all year students. The highest salary offered last year was around 1.37 crores. In electrical Engineering department, highest was 36 LPA, average was 18 LPA and the minimum salary offered was 8 LPA. All big companies like Google, Facebook ,Microsoft, Qualcomm, Intel visited the campus on Day 0 of placements and hired many students. Around 95% students got placed last year who sat for placements. Some prefer to go for MBA or any other higher studies in foreign Universities.

It costs around 10 lacs in total considering hostel expenses too for a general student whose parental income is more than 10 lacs yearly. Based on family income and category ,fees is different for different students . Innumerable number of scholarships like Dean Scholarship are provided to students based on merits and family financial conditions. Apart from this, various paid internships are also offered to students. Institute also provides 0 interest loans to students who wants it to pay fees. In general, institute itself take care of all fee related problems faced by students and offer them with solutions. Hence , the system is very good and student need not to take the burden of fees.

Sports culture is also very good in campus with all facilities like 'Gymkhana' , semi Olympic size swimming pool etc. The institute has a very big fully air-conditioned library with amazing collections of books all around the world. The student has 24/7 access to them.

Hostels are well enough .It has all facilities for students like laundry, T.V room, balcony etc. Each hostel has a mess which contains both North Indian and South Indian food. Quality and Quantity of food is good and adequate. Everything is hygienic. First -year students are provided with double or triple occupancy rooms. Later on they get single rooms. Rooms have beds, table and fan/coolers too. Each floor of hostel has fully maintained and equipped toilets. Hostels are inside the campus only on walking/cycling distance from other buildings. Hostels are affordable and registration process is quite simple that happens alongside admission process .No extra effort is required for registration except for the preference form and collecting mess id.
