Remarks

In 2016, it was in multiple lists of top 5 colleges for engineering in Bangalore. It had a consistently good record for placements. A couple of my seniors from school had enrolled there the previous year and gave good feedback. It was the best college available for me with my rank in COMED-K. It was also close enough for me to travel everyday as I didn't want to live in a hostel.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

I wasn't particularly interested in my course, but took it up because of the good reputation the college had. College followed the curriculum set by the university it was affiliated to. It leaned towards theory rather than practical applications and was a little outdated. Most of the faculty were highly qualified, but temporary/junior professors also taught sometimes, though they were only tasked with easy theoretical subjects. Overall the quality of faculty was good and they were always helpful if anyone went to them with doubts after hours. Internal exams were a breeze for the most part. Quality of term exams varied throughout, as the university set the papers. For the most part they were easy to pass, but took extra effort to score high marks.

Internships Opportunities

2

University had made it compulsory for everyone to do atleast one internship before 8th semester. But its not taken very seriously by most students as there aren't many opportunities to get good internships, especially with the university giving only 4-5 weeks of time at maximum to finish it. Also, college doesn't really help students with regards to internship, so most of us just do unpaid internships, to get credits is all. There are exceptions. Some students have taken up really good internships and gotten placed through PPO. But that is again only applicable to CS/IT branches. A CS student from my batch got placed in Goldman Sacs after doing an internship with them.

Placement Experience

3.5

Students are eligible to sit for placements from 7th semester based on the requirements asked by the companies. Accenture is biggest recruiter, taking around 220-250 students every year. There are surplus placement opportunities for students in CS/IT branches. Core branches don't get as many opportunities. Usually almost all students in CS/IT branches get placed, while the percentage decreases to about 75% for other branch students. Some of the highest packages offered are by Target (11.5L) & Danske IT (10L). Other companies which visit regularly include, MuSigma, Mindtree, KPIT, Temenos, Robert Bosch. Students can also participate in pool campus drives organized by the centralized placement cell of the university. These include companies such as TCS, Infosys, Wipro, IBM etc.

College Events

Its a big campus with lots of hangout spots. Infrastructure is on the older side as the college is over 30 years old, but everything is functional and decent. Verve was the annual Intra collegiate tech/cultural fest usually held in September. Kalanjali was the annual inter-collegiate cultural fest held during October. The fests were decent but nowhere near as good as the ones organized by BMSCE and other such colleges in Bangalore. College had a pretty good library with a good collection of books and journals, though it was seriously lacking in fictional collection. They are building a new library with a focus on digitalizing it as much as possible. Classrooms had green boards and projectors with wooden desks. Every floor had washrooms for both genders. Extra curricular activities were encouraged. Lot of people were involved in sports and got good support from coaches etc. Student run clubs included fashion club, dance groups, bands and quiz club.

Fee Structure And Facilities

There are three different types of fee structures based on the process of admission. It was cheapest if one gets in through the K-CET process (About 60k per year). COMED-K (through which I get in) costed about 1.85 Lakhs every year. Admissions through management quota had the same fees as COMED-K per year but with extra money paid once in first year, which depended on the branch being taken. Scholarships were available for students who belonged to the reserved categories and who's family income was less than the amount deemed to be less by the government. There were a couple of scholarships for students based on merit.

Admission

The sole criteria for selection was based on the rank achieved by one in either the CET or COMED-K examination. They are both tests with multiple choice questions, based on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would like to rate the course 7 out of 10. Because as these is a distance learning many difficulties occur. I am doing a MBA in ksou after my graduation in b. Com. As ksou comes under UGT it is more helpful for the job seeker. As per my knowledge the faculty should conduct a more classes may be through online so that the working people can attend the classes from wherever they want. There are many distance learning courses in ksou academic platform but they are not handling in a accuracy. They take a lot of time to announce a results, even to conduct a exams they take a lot of time. The question paper are sometimes difficult and the question will be from out of syllabus which will be difficult to attend. Distance learning course is difficult to manage
