Remarks
The brand MDI is very reputed and Murshidabad follows the same pedagogy as Gurgaon. Many guest faculties from Gurgaon come here to teach various subjects. Many other colleges who are second or third campuses are actually charging more and just thinking of expanding, while MDI only has 2 campuses despite its reputation. There is full support from the main campus, and a lot of focus is on improving the Murshidabad campus.
Course Curriculum Overview
MDI Murshidabad follows the pedagogy of MDI Gurgaon. Each year is divided into three terms (trimester), wherein every trimester you are assigned to a group. This helps in peer learning as you work with a diverse set of people, you get to learn a lot and grow. Teaching is mostly based on case studies, assignments, and projects. The faculty here are well experienced, and for certain subjects, we even have faculties from Gurgaon. Many of the faculty are from industry with hands-on experience with a lot of knowledge. Each term has mid-term exams and end-term exams. Other than that, weightage is also given to projects, quizzes, and assignments.
Internships Opportunities
Everyone of batch 2020-22 has got opportunities for a summer internship. College provides many opportunities, but it is not limited to it. We can try and secure opportunities outside the college as well. The summer internship is a mandatory part of the academics and usually lasts for two or three months.
Placement Experience
The average package last year was 11.5 lpa. There are many reputed companies which come to the campus. The roles offered to depend on the specialization the students select. There have been some issues due to the pandemic, but the placement committee has done a great job and pulled us through. As for the batch of 2019-21, I don't have a clear idea about their placements due to limited interaction, and as the placement report is not yet out. But, their placements have gone good overall and many good profiles were offered.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is Rs. 11,50,000. This fee is inclusive of tution, hostel (as it is a residential course), exam fees, library fees, mess fee, etc. Compared to other colleges of the same level, I feel this fee is less and justified. The college is also tied with SBI and its students are eligible for the SBI scholar loan, where we get a loan for the whole tution fee without any collateral.
Campus Life
Our classes have been completely online due to the pandemic. I was worried initially about the social life, but soon enough we became good friends without having to meet each other. Events are organized on zoom calls or other similar platforms, where we get to enjoy ourselves from our homes. We get access to e-libraries and various platforms for accessing research papers. There are many committees and clubs in the college which are active throughout the year. Some help us grow academically while other clubs help us in doing social activities or entertainment.
Interview Experience
The admission process was mainly GDPI. The topics of GD ranged from abstract topics to current affairs. Each GD was about 20 minutes before the personal interview was conducted. PI is conducted by faculty from the college, and they evaluate the students on the basis of their credibility. I took a GDPI course from TIME which helped me clear the interview. I had a stress interview, which I think would have gone real bad if I had not taken any previous training.
