Remarks
IBS is one of the B-Schools in India. I am sure a lot of students might have heard about IBS when applying for MBA. Known as ICFAI Business School, IBS has its campuses in many metropolitan cities, such as Gurgaon, Mumbai, Hyderabad etc. I got to know about IBS through a friend and applied through the MAT entrance exam. The admission process takes place around February and March. And Induction classes begin in May around 15-17th. After getting into IBS, there were alot of things I learned. Unfortunately, given the pandemic, I wasn’t able to visit the college campus. Therefore, online learning is something that has kept the college running. The faculty is good and I would recommend one to indulge in Club activities as well as they provide a lot of exposure.
Course Curriculum Overview
IBS curriculum is extremely detailed and it keeps on rebuilding itself according to the industry trends. Obviously, keeping the basics clear. Whether one is from Finance, Marketing, HR, IT or Operations- the college offers a variety of subjects for all fields. I am a core marketing student. The faculty is amazing. You’ll find a mix of PhD faculties, faculties having years of industry experience and much more. The best part is that the faculty is always available for the students. The faculty-student ratio is also fair. We have exams twice every semester. Mid-semester and end semester with continual assessment throughout the semester.
Internships Opportunities
The summer internship program is an exclusive program provided by the college after the first semester with a good lineup of companies like JCL, ACC, DHL, Asian paints, HDFC etc. every company comes with a different job role and profile.
Placement Experience
After you complete your summer internship program, you become eligible for your placements. Companies do start coming in from July August onwards. And college does get a good lineup of companies and board. There are more than 250 companies that come for college placements. The highest package this year went around 14 lakhs and the average is around 6 lakhs-6.5 lakhs.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure is detailed. Given the pandemic, the concession was not given in terms of fees but at the same time, there was no drop in the quality of education as well. The college has tied up with various banks for the student loan facility. Students can get in touch with the admin dept for further assistance as well. IBS provides no scholarship as of now. Talking about campus job, they do have a good lineup of companies coming in every year.
Campus Life
I haven’t been able to experience college life due to pandemic situation but you’ll surely have the feel of college life through virtual interactions. IBS has around 21 clubs. One should participate in club activities. They give you alot of exposure and confidence. The annual flagship fest in Konflux and other small events keeps on taking place throughout the entire year. Books will be sent to you at your address before the semester starts. And for online study material, they have quick force as a study portal where your exams also take place. I am part of club m360 and corporate connect, both the clubs are run by students for students.
Interview Experience
IBS does have GD and PI both during the admission process. GD topics range from current affairs to abstract topics. Being aware of the current scenario is important. My interviewers were nice and made me feel comfortable by throwing easy questions at first. They do ask about your who and why. Prepare well for that. Being honest is important because you’ll find experienced people there, so it's best to not trade your honesty.
