Remarks

Firstly I wanted to make B.Tech, Biotechnology my HSC. In Chennai only a few colleges had B.Tech, Biotechnology. One among those colleges was SSIET. Some of my school seniors studied there and they recommended me SSIET as the best college for doing my under graduation in biotechnology. I directly visited the college and felt comfortable by the way the management treated me and my parents. Talking with the staffs and visiting the laboratory and classrooms gave me an insight into the next four years in that college and also about the bright future after my studies. Apart from all these I attended a college-level entrance exam at SSIET and got a scholarship of Rs. 20,000 and had to pay only Rs. 55,000 even though my actual fees was Rs. 75,000/yr. The support given by the management and my department staffs gave me a feel-good experience and also gave confidence to my parents about my future. These were the reasons I opted for SSIET over others. This was one of the best decisions I made.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

After completing HSC, I wanted to become a research scientist. Therefore I opted B.Tech Biotechnology as an initial step to attain my goal. The major reason for choosing SSIET to do my under graduation is its staffs. All the staffs of our department were doctorates. Even though all our staffs were well educated they were easily approachable to students. Our staffs not only educated us on the curriculum but also encouraged us to do internships, to participate in the symposium, conferences, etc., They never fail to appreciate our individual talents and gave shape to our ideas through the start-up and innovation cell of SSIET. Almost all the students have done internships in each semester and have participated in a minimum of 2-3 international conferences. Few start-ups also emerged from our college. We students of SSIET are not cliche protocol followers we are protocol makers to solve new problems. We were, are and will be supported by our staffs and management for all our good deeds.

Internships Opportunities

5

Our college students were asked to go for internships for all semester holidays. I have undergone internships at various industries such as Life Cell International, United Breweries Limited, Shri A.M.M. Murugappa. Chettiar Research Centre and Uniq Technologies. I did my final year project at the Embryology department of Tamilnadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.

Placement Experience

5

From the 7th semester, we started getting campus interviews. Companies such as Zifo R&D and other pharma companies visited our college for campus interviews. I went for an off-campus interview with the help of my HOD since my field of interest was embryology. Currently, I got placed in Indigo Womens Center, Anna Nagar as an Andrologist with an annual package of 1.5 lakh. Our management and staffs not only supports jobs that fit into a particular template but also provide their best to help persons like me who wants to step out of the box. I solely want to thank my HOD, Mr Hariharan for his guidance to get my dream job.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees were Rs. 75,000/ year. I got a scholarship of Rs. 20,000 for the first year only by clearing the entrance exam conducted by SSIET. Some of my friends who are eligible for the first graduate scholarship, BC scholarship and PMS got those scholarships. There was no hike in this fees structure all throughout the 4 years.

Campus Life

4

Yearly once cultural festival, sports and extracurricular activities and tech fest will be conducted. Our college also has a library with digital facilities too. We also have a startup and innovation cell to give shape to the ideas of the students. We also do fund projects under the guidance of our staffs.

Interview Experience

5

Since I joined the college through management I attended a college-level entrance exam conducted by SSIET. The exam was in the form of MCQs and had only one round. The questions asked were based on the 11th and 12th syllabus. I cleared the exam and got a scholarship of Rs 20,000 for the first year.

Other Applied Colleges

Veltech, Avadi | B. Tech Biotechnology

Some of my school seniors studied at SSIET and recommend me that the staffs of SSIET are very supportive for students and are highly knowledgeable

Specific schedule is not followed in college regarding the academic and co curricular activities. Sudden decisions will be taken by the management which is a bit difficult for the students and faculty too. There were times where faculties are fed up of management rules and decisions.
