Remarks

It is the first and best college for BIOTECH in Chennai with inspiring and friendly faculty members who not only help us in understanding the concepts but also life lessons. Infrastructure, eco-friendly environment and healthy hospitality with parents and students made this college my first choice for Biotechnology.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

I chose this course as my major because it's the only combination of science and technology. When bio meets technology, nothing can stop human beings. The faculty: student ratio depends on the department however 1:2 is a general one. The qualification of the faculties members is far beyond our expectations. Most of them are PhD holders and the review teaching method varies depending upon students approach towards listening or learning. Exams were on time even the sun would forget to raise but Sastha cycles exams didn't. Here in Sastha, exams are meant to test the understanding of the chapters and not marks. Passing the exams was always a sure thing.

Internships Opportunities

5

Many companies like bioklone, Biocon, Apollo hospitals, Zifo R & D gave valuable choices of working positions and also National and Central Institutes like National Institute of Epidemiology, National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis, IIT Madras, National Institute for animal biotechnology, NIV, ICMR-NITM etc gave multiple opportunities for internship and also minor projects to our students.

Placement Experience

5

Mostly on their pre-final year students become eligible for campus placements but not to hurt or destroy the awakening spirit of young minds, faculty members support students from the second year to get into paid internships by educating and providing opportunities through various social media platforms like LinkedIn. Companies visited are Zifo R&D, HCL etc and in a good number, many got placed. The highest CTC 4,00,000/per annum and the lowest was 2,50,000/per annum. Since my biotech department is NABL accredited, we biotechniques are abundantly trained in handling high-tech equipment and instruments gently as well as resolving any technical errors rapidly. I did get my dream job in ICON plc Chennai which my plan after finishing my degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees structure are divided into academics and Co-curriculum, extra-curriculum. Fees hike policy depends greatly on increasing the standard of educating students. There are many scholarships to available like FG, merit-based, caste-based scholarship and also fellowship depending upon departments. Financial assistance is provided if needed under reviewed scenario and campus interview always held up with seasonal opportunities and needs of the society. A by-monthly internship outside and inside of Chennai really helped me to get into great height.

Campus Life

5

Annual fest - Annual Technical as well as non-technical events. Tech fest - Departmental symposium and national, international Conference and inter-college events. Not limited to just subject related books and journals but also great literature and knowledge-oriented books were always available to us. Sports and extracurricular activities are held monthly for maintaining a healthy mind and body irrespective of people needs. Social groups like NNS camps and NGO works are supported firmly inside as well as outside of our college. We always believe to make our earth a better place to live.

Specific schedule is not followed in college regarding the academic and co curricular activities. Sudden decisions will be taken by the management which is a bit difficult for the students and faculty too. There were times where faculties are fed up of management rules and decisions.
