College management needs to understand the mindset of the students and act accordingly, instead of simply imposing strict rules for everything.

Vellore Institute Of Technology(VIT, hereafter), conducts its own entrance examination called "VITEE". It is generally held in the month of April which is a Computer-based Test. I got a rank of 5806 AIR in VITEE and got Computer Science and Engineering in the counseling, which is amongst the best branches of the college.

VIT follows a very good curriculum called the Fully Flexible Credit System (FFCS, hereafter). Under this system, all the students are independent to choose their timing of classes, the faculty of their own choice, and the subjects they want to study for a particular semester. This provides flexibility to all the students. Talking about Research work carried out in our college, VIT always stands between Rank 1 to 4 on an All India Basis.

Yes,it does many of the companies which come for placement in the campus, provide internship to the students. The stipend largely varies from company to company ranging from 5000/- per month to 50,000/- per month.

VIT claims for 100% placements and believe me,it is true to a large extent. All the deserving students get placed from the campus , package completely depending upon the merit and potential of the student.

VIT conducts one of the largest Technical Fests in India called "GraVITas" , which is held in the month of September generally.It is always a great experience to witness this tech fest. Talking about cultural fest, VIT ranks in the top 5 colleges for "Riviera". With a grand budget of Crores, this cultural event is a huge success every year, which ends for 4 days, a celebrity performing on all the days.

When I took admission to the college, the fee structure of the college was:- Tuition Fes- Rs. 1,55,000 per annum. Hostel Fees depend totally on the room type you opt for starting from Rs.19,000 per annum to Rs. 68,500 per annum. Mess fees also depend on which Mess are you opting for, ranging from Rs.39,000 per annum to Rs. 53,000 per annum.

I am not aware of any such loan facilities provided by VIT. But, it offers scholarships to the students who performed well in VITEE.

The campus life in VIT is very strict, or it would not be wrong if I say, most strict, when compared to other colleges. We are not allowed to celebrate birthday parties inside the hostel. The boys need to be inside the campus before 8:30 pm and the girls have to be inside the campus before 7 pm, making it very inconvenient for any student to go out and hang out somewhere. The gender ratio is very poor. Roughly the gender ratio is 8:1 (Boys: Girls) the college has very conservative thinking about the boys and girls being together. Rules are very strict on this part. Rest, we have numerous clubs and chapters which organize events from time to time in all the fields.

Hostels in VIT are quite comfortable when compared to other colleges. There are various Room options to choose from. Every year, we have to undergo counseling depending upon the CGPA with both AC and Non-AC option in all the above rooms. The quality of mess food is very good when it comes to special mess

Senior students are very helpful for the juniors. The best part is, VIT doesn't tolerate ragging in any form.

For us, we have 3 Quiz - 5 marks each. 2 CAT(Continuous Assessment Test) - 50 marks each, which is converted into 15 marks each, and 1 assignment which carries 5 marks. so, in total, - 5*3=15 + 2*15=30 + 5 = 50 at the end, we have Term End Exam which is for 100 marks which are converted into 50 marks therefore, the exam goes on for a whole semester leaving behind a very hectic schedule for all the students.

Most of the faculty of the college are very knowledgeable and supportive. They are always there, ready to help out the students in the best available way they can, be it academics, or extra-curricular activities.
