Remarks

This college is outstanding in the matter of teaching and discipline. This is a completely ragging free college. If any student is found to flout any rule he/she will be immediately suspended. Obviously, you will prefer this college over any others in Kolkata due to the sheer legacy and prestige you will get if you get a chance to join this esteemed college. The admission process was based on a strict merit basis. They took into consideration the best of 4 subjects obtained in hs exam and apart from that you needed to have maths as a subject in +2 level. If you speak about bad aspects then maybe some student from non English medium may find it a little bit difficult since the mode of teaching is English. Apart from that somebody also may not like the strict discipline especially after coming out from school.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

I had taken up commerce at my +2 level. So, obviously after passing 12, I had always wanted to pursue B.com .Now, when I got this chance of getting selected in st Xavier's my happiness knew no bounds. Teachers were obviously highly educated, many having passed from Calcutta University, some have done b.ed. At least all of them have completed post graduation. Everybody had tremendous knowledge in the field they were teaching. So, even if you have any doubts in mind, it is better to clear by asking the respective teacher. Every teacher was polite and benevolent. The exams were slightly difficult but if you had studied well and followed your teachers' instructions it would be a cakewalk for you.aIn fact, I did not have to pick any private tuition since the faculty was extremely good.

Internships Opportunities

5

Yes, I took marketing as optional in my final year. So, I had to undergo an internship in Indian oil where the marketing department helped me in completing my internship. This internship was not at all paid. Here you will just get an idea about how Indian oil works. What marketing strategies they take. You will get a chance to work with them. Sometimes, as an intern, if they like your work you may get a chance to work with them as an employee also. However, chances are quite rare. If you opt for finance, then you will have to do an internship in finance based firms. After completion of a hectic schedule in marketing, you will be asked to make a PowerPoint presentation. If you have done your training well, you will not find any problem in doing this presentation. Also along with that, you need to submit a hard copy of what you have done during your training.

Placement Experience

5

Students in their final year are eligible to seat for campus placements. You need to register yourself in the 5th semester if you want to seat for the campus program. You can opt for campus training also which is also really good. Most students who opt for campusing get selected. If you speak about Percentage then nearly 90% of students get selected every year from different streams. However, the fact is that not all students seat from campus. Even after getting offer letters from famous companies like Kotak Mahindra, Cognizant they go for higher studies like MBA, PhD. My plan was after getting my graduate degree was to seat for competitive exams. and to grab a seat in the first place. That is why I didn't opt for the campus program. I didn't dream of joining any corporate job.

Fees and Financial Aid

The scholarship was mainly provided to merit cum means quota holding students or the students who used to come from minority forum. These students mainly needed financial assistance. I used to come from a family with having a sound annual income. So I didn't get any such scope of getting any sort of scholarship. The cost of fees was higher compared to any government college by a high margin. However, it was affordable. I used to study in the morning batch which consisted of only boys. The afternoon batch was co-ed. If I speak about campus placements, then this college is one of the best. You will get placement requests from Kotak Mahindra Bank, Icici bank, Cognizant, Infosys, IBM and many other companies. Since I always dreamt of joining government jobs I didn't opt for the campus training program. otherwise, this campus placement training was available for 6000 rupees.

Campus Life

4.5

The Libra had a huge collection of books. If you are a bibliographic person you will definitely love this place. This library had a plethora of books. I used to collect books from this library only. There was no need to visit any other place for purchasing study materials. Classes maintained good hygiene. In fact, the desks and chairs were cleaned on regular basis. The class auditorium was really cool. Sports happened on regular basis like intercollege cricket, football and others. Our college fest was one of the best. It invited famous singers like Shreya Ghoshal once visited our campus. In fact, to view such a program you needed to pay 1000 bucks. You will really enjoy studying over here. Not only the faculty is good. You will be getting the best amenities also over here

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.
