Remarks

Calicut medical college is one of the best medical colleges in India and is ranked 36. Excels in both academics and extracurricular activities. Better clinical exposure is the main thing to point out. The number of patients coming to the OP or casualty exceeds 700 per day. Even though the number of staff is sub minimal. The admission is followed by NEET. We can apply for the allotment either through all India quota or through state quota. The admission process requires signing in a bond which says that we have to give 10 lakh rupees if we drop the course midway through. The admission starts around August. Their wold is orientation classes following the admission in which we'll get to know about the course and the campus. This college is one of the best options for medical aspirants. Also, Calicut is a very beautiful place well known for its food and its nature. Almost every medical aspirant dream of getting a seat in Calicut medical college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I had a strong ambition of becoming a doctor since childhood. Our batch has a strength of 250 students. They are divided into 4 mini batches for practical purposes. During clinical postings, these are again divided into units of around 15 students. The teaching staff include professors, asst. professors, senior residents and PGs. The total number of faculties varies according to departments. There are theory classes, practicals and clinical postings (OP, wards, operation theatres, casualty). There are three internal exams during and academic year and a final University examination, several small class tests will be conducted along with these. The average of internal exams are taken the student should have a 50 percent mark to attend the final exam in which also 50% marks are required to pass in a subject. If a student fails an exam he can attend the supplementary exam 6 months later and should pass in that subject to complete the course.

Placement Experience

3

After completing House surgency, I have to practice in any hospital to make fund for my PG admission. After getting a PG, I might look for a super speciality. Interested in going abroad for practice. Or else work as a clinical professor in medical college

Fees and Financial Aid

25000 is the annual tuition fees.10000 for hostel fees in the first year and 5000 from the 2nd year onwards.2000 caution deposit in the canteen and monthly bills for the food.13000 as PTA fees during admission. There is a scholarship called egrantz -24000 per year.

Campus Life

4.5

There are many fests and programmes conducted by the college union, University union or the college faculties themselves. Interbatch arts and sports carnivals are conducted and talented ones are selected for intermedical arts and sports fests. Inter medical fests, interzonal fests are conducted yearly in which every medical college and paramedical, dental colleges participate. We have one of the biggest stadium for athletics and sports. Sports club and other art clubs like dance club are very active in college.

Hostel Facilities

4

Basic requirements like study tables, cots, lights, fans are provided. The food is very good. Calicut is well known for its tasty foods. Hostel registration is along with admission. Hostel fees are affordable or many scholarships are given to students who are financially not secure.

Interview Experience

3.5

GDs were done by almost every department for getting familiar with them and the course. The only criteria for admission are the NEET rank. All the students appeared inside a lecture hall for Group discussion. There was an interview with the vice principal during admission. It was quite easy and he asked about the reasons for choosing the course and all.

Even though a bit tight and rushy, this is in fact the best curriculum provided and followed by all medical colleges in kerala. The frequency of exam is high and difficulty level is as same as that of KUHS. This provides relevant experience for the students to weite the university exams

Course Curriculum Overview:

It's always relevant to the content being taught by the teachers. They always use application based questions to prepare us for a real life situation as well. First aid training was also completed. Some of the teachers are very interactive while some not. Short exams are conducted on a weekly basis while internal exams are conducted every 2/3 months. Not that difficult but it isn't that easy either. Very strict checking, nothing is liberal.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is a pretty hard one i must say but the feeling of putting on a white coat and looking after patients is surreal and that's the main essence of the job. The curriculum is very vast but each subject is important in its own way. The exams are all conducted in such a way that there's enough time for us to prepare .
