Remarks
I chose Jaypee Institute of Information and Technology as it's the best college in Delhi NCR. This college has decent placement statistics and cultural ambience. To get admission here one has to enrol through online mode by filling the admission form and choosing the gateway whether you want to get admission on basis of your JEE rank or your boards' marks. The admission process started just after the results of the board came out. I chose this college over others as it had the best campus life, placement opportunities, culture and everything amongst all the other colleges in Delhi NCR. Collegedunia, Quora, Youtube videos helped me selecting a suitable college for me.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Electronics and Communication Engineering as this is an uprising branch in today's world. Also the faculty of the ECE dept. here is very good guiding us through every difficulty that we face. Faculty: student ratio here is 1:30 which is a pretty decent ratio as compared to other colleges where there are 60-70 students and just one teacher to handle therefore not able to give attention to each student which is not the case here in JIIT. Most of the professors here are PhD holders and some of them even have experience of teaching in foreign universities like the University of New York (NYU). The teaching method is satisfactory. Each semester consists of 3 examinations: 2 mid sems and one end sem with a lot of assessments like quizzes, projects, lab evaluations. The examination method here is a bit frustrating. Most of the time it's just us students giving examinations and projects and no time for personal development. The difficulty level also was a bit up off the end sems.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, JIIT does provide its students with internship opportunities from the 7th semester onwards which is basically final year student. Internship opportunities are not that good but it's average. The summer internship programme takes place in the month of June-July. 150-160 companies provide internship offers some being Amazon, Adobe, Microsoft, HCL and many more. There are minor and major projects for student's better experience and learning.
Placement Experience
Placement opportunities given to students are good. During the third year, students are provided with internship opportunities and from the 7th semester onwards students are eligible to sit in placement rounds held on campus. Around 1300 offers are made every year with the companies being Amazon, DeShaw, Adobe, Wipro, Infosys, Zomato and many more for CSE/IT students and Goldman Sachs, Cognizant and other companies for the ECE branch. Approx 500 offers are made for the ECE branch with an eligible number of students being 300 around. The highest package bagged was 43.7 lacs by 4 students offered by Adobe then by DeShaw. Average CTC goes somewhat around 7-8lacs which is a decent package. The overall placement percentage of JIIT is 96%. After getting the degree I might take campus placement or may pursue higher education.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees hikes every year as in any other educational institute. The total expenditure of 4 years B.tech is not that high. As under 10 lacs, one can have his degree (hostel excluded). If one takes a hostel then the rates are high. Total fees of degree go up to 16-17 lacs if one takes hostel and mess facilities as 1,70,000 something it costs per year only for hostel and other facilities. College provides scholarship opportunities to those who have their All India Rank(AIR) under 1000. Also, financially unstable students get support from the institution. Those whose family income is less than 8lacs get some relaxation on the academic fees.
Campus Life
With a campus size of 16 acres which is a smaller area for an engineering college, the campus life here at JIIT is pretty good. From ethnic nights, fests to the facilities like well-equipped gymnasiums, swimming pools, the campus are well maintained. The annual fest of Jaypee Institute of Information and Technology - sector 62 IMPRESSIONS is held in Feb at the end of march start which marks the presence of some great stars and big personalities like Maninder Buttar, Zaeden, The Local Train and many more. A four-storeyed building called Learning Resource Center (LRC) is the library which is stacked with every book required for students. Classrooms are well furnished and fully air conditioned. Due to the small campus size, there isn't a proper football ground or cricket pitch but there is a basketball court and squash courts. Also, there is the college's football team for inter-college competitions and other championships.
