Remarks
The college management is very strict about maintaining the college timings and even to step out of the college for few mins is not allowed. This can be at times very irritating but it actually works for the benefit of the students as they get into the regime of working under strict discipline. Conculsion about the college is that it is a very good college not a very big one but its warmth flows from teachers to students.
Entrance Preview
Admission was based on the entrance exam : JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) conducted by NCHMCT at All India Level. My son had scored a rank of 2100 and got this college. This is a very good college and its near to Delhi so he had opted for this college (I am based out of Delhi) .
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is as follows: Culinary, Food Production, Introduction to F& B industry, Food Service, Front office Operations, Housekeeping, Accommodation operations, Computers, Hotel Engineering. Nurtition, Beverage industry, hotel accountancy, Research methodology, and Industrial Training. It is a very comprehensive course and covers most of the modules needed for joining this industry.
Internships Opportunities
There are lot of hotels which pick up students through various interviews during the second year of the college. This internship is called the Industrial Training in the college. Hotels like Taj, Leela, Hyatt, Raddisson and lots of other hotels and resorts visit the college.
College Events
There are lots of festivals and events celeberated in the college with participation from every year student. We do no have some management committee but there is a student committee which organises these events. Some events are at a larger scale but few are like inter college oonly. Organising and Operating Food Stalls at Exhibitions and Carnivals, Organising / Participating in Students Chef Competition, Educational /, Excursion Tours, Organising Food & Beverage Competitions, Alumni (Masters & Novices) Meet, Farewell Party, These are the various events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees structure is very reasonable - around 45000 per semester this fees doesn't include the hostel fees.
Campus Life
There are few societies formed in the college, the girls are very few in the college as compared to the boys. But it varies every year. There is no discrimination on the basis of ethnicity race or religion as a lot of discipline is maintained in the college which flows down from the Principal's office. The labs are very well maintained but there are not robotics. Debates were held at every semester.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel in the college premises is very basic as it is a government college. Each room is shared by 3 students. The food provided in the mess is very good and maintains its standards. There is a seperate girls hostel as well. Since Chandigarh is not a very big town, a lot of PGs are available within the vicinty for boys and girls seperately. The average cost of a PG is 6000 - 7000 per month.
Alumni/Alumna
The senior students are very helpful in all the ways possible. They share their various experiences and also help in preparing for projects at various levels. They also guide us in applying for the industrial training and the best courses available in this field.
Exam Structure
The day structure was very hectic, my son had to be in the college from 9:00AM - 5:00PM leaving us very less time to relax. From day1 they are in the process of giving us rigorous training to be in the hotel industry. House tests are held every month (thrice in one semester) which are followed by the Semester exams.
Faculty
The faculty in the college is very good and there is a lot of discipline maintained in the college. We have often a visiting guest facility who is particularly famous in some areas / or has expertise to guide us through the learning process.
