IET Lucknow Review

I applied for UPSEE 2020, Paper-6 (MCA), and cleared the same. I didn't avail any quota. The admission criteria or the same program are - A student should have passed any degree of a minimum of 3 years with at least 50% marks. Students must have studied Mathematics at either 12th level or in graduation. There is no foundation on age. In the year 2020, we gave UPSEE which is now replaced by UPCET. The entrance exam was of a total of 400 marks and one should get at least 25% (100 marks) to qualify the same. In order to get admission to IET (my college), a general student is expected to obtain marks around 250. The counseling process started after a week of the result declaration, we had to fill our choice priority. Counseling was in 4 phases, in order to lock our seats, payment of 20,000/12,000 (depending on criteria) was to be made. After that, successfully selected students were called for physical reporting in their colleges, where we went through document verification & fee payment.

I chose MCA from IET Lucknow because I developed a keen interest in Computer Science when I was pursuing graduation. There is a balanced ratio of faculty to students. Most of the regular faculty are highly qualified. They have done graduation, post-graduation, or Ph.D. from IITs, NITs, or other prestigious colleges of India. Exams in IET are not that difficult to pass. We have monthly class tests, regular assignments, and a final exams at the end.

Internship opportunities are for B.tech students only. Other students have to look by themselves for the internship. B.tech students get the perks of working with good companies. Projects of Web development, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Python and other languages, etc., are given as a task to the students.

Placements for MCA start from the 3rd sem (as now the course is for 2 years only), for B.tech, companies start visiting for third years. Most CS students are placed at the basic package of 3-4 LPA. Placement for core branches is not that good. Companies like TCS, Adobe, Tata, Bharat Electronics, Hexa View, etc., visit the campus. Students who are not placed in on-campus placements, apply for off-campus. The tag of IET also works in off-campus placements. Some students from IET have got a package of around and more than 30 LPA in off-campus placement. I am looking forward to applying off-campus, and I hope to get placed in a good company. Placement off campus depends on your skills and achievements.

The fee structure in IET Lucknow is affordable, and it is less compared to other AKTU affiliated colleges. The annual fee of MCA in IET is 80,000 rupees only. Students whose family income is less are eligible to fill UP scholarship, there are other scholarships for girls and minority too. I filled form for the UP scholarship and got a scholarship of 50,000 rupees, this helped me a lot for future fee payment. I don't know of any campus job given to any student, but you get enough time here to work part-time somewhere else. Scholarship and fees are not issued in IET Lucknow.

Life at the campus is amazing. The campus is not that big like IITs or NITs, but still, it is more than enough for us to give the feel of studying in a top college. Mess food is amazing unlike other colleges'. The hostel facility is also good. Because of Covid-19, students are missing a lot of things. Annual fests are Shauryotsava and Encore. An annual sports event is also held. The sports complex is being built in the campus, and it looks awesome. The library is very big, and it has a vast number of books. Classrooms are interactive. MCA has its own sports event, Chetna yearly. Students manage media body, Whiteboard. There is a website and app for IET Alumni and IET students designed by IET students. YAP is an interactive app for our students and alumnus, designed by one of our alumni.
