Remarks
I applied to all the major colleges in Mumbai including Jai Hind, Ruia, KC, Wilson, St. Xavier's. I did not proceed with them as I found Mithibai to be a better and convenient option. I did not avail any quota, I got admission in the general category. The admission criteria are pretty standard. You have to have passed the 12th standard. Your admission eventually depends on the merit list which is based on the marks scored in 12th. The admission process was pretty simple. There was no counselling as such. You just have to apply online and once your name is on the merit list, you have to physically go to the college in the next 2-3 days to get your documents verified. Once that is done. You get admitted to the college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The reason for choosing this course was that I needed to do something different. The media field had always enticed me and this seemed like a good course. There are three permanent faculties who teach throughout the three years. Every semester some professors are hired on contract who are professionals in their fields, the rest of the subjects are taught by the permanent faculty members. The HOD is a PhD holder in sociology. The rest of the facilities have masters in their respective fields. The teaching methods are modern and up to date with the current system. The professors behave professionally and provide support whenever needed. More or less the term exams were timely. To be honest they were easy to pass with some preparation.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for first year was Rs.23,000/-. The fees for the second year was Rs. 37,000/-. I don't have an idea about the scholarship provided. The students belonging to backward classes are required to pay a substantially low amount of fees.
Campus Life
A lot of fests keep taking place throughout the year. The annual fest is named "Kshitij" and it takes place in December. The library is huge and contains a lot of resources. Journals are updated regularly and are available easily. Students are also given access to e-library and paid research papers. The classrooms have centralised air conditioning systems. They are well lit. The seating is good. There are smart boards in the classes. The lacks a bit in terms of sports. Although there are an ample amount of extracurricular activities. There are various clubs and societies. Mithibai film society, Mithibai drama team, Economic forum, students counsel.
