My college life

SMU is a private university in Sikkim approved by UGC and AICTE. Talking about admission, we have to appear for SMIT offline written test conducted by SMU or 85%+ in jee to get admission in the college. Then we paid the fees and submitted the documents, and we were in. I applied for this college as it is the best college with a strong school of science and thus of great minds.

I preferred this course as I was very keen on learning the process of how technology works and function. I have a deep interest in technology and computers. The student ratio is about 7:3 as there is more no. Of males as compared to females in my course. The faculties are really good and have experience of almost 10-15 years and all are PhD. Their manner of teaching is just awesome and enables us to learn things easily. We have 8 semesters in total and 2 semesters in a year.

No such internships were provided by the College. Yet they offer us placement training every year before the placements are done. we have to opt for the internship to the companies on our own. Only the thing is that the placement cell of our college helped up to know about the upcoming internships provided by various companies through the mail and we have to opt for our own

A placement drive is conducted every year in the college. many companies visit the campus like cognizant, IBM, TCS, Infosys etc. The highest package goes up to 200000 per annum and the average goes up to 4 lakh per annum. The placement ratio is also good as 80% of the students get placed every year.

The fees are almost 3 lakh per annum for BTech which makes it quite expensive. The college offers scholarship when we have very good grades in our End semester exams at the end of every year. And I haven't come to know about any other scholarships provided till now.

The campus of the College is one of the best. The campus environment is best suited for students as it has calm surrounding and full of nature. We have sports facilities and well managed playground for cricket, volleyball, basketball etc. The hostel facility is quite good and it costs around 20000 per annum.
