Remarks
I had applied to VIT, BITS, KIIT, COMEDK colleges, and JEE Colleges. I got a JEE MAIN percentile of 97,and had got placed in NIT Pondicherry, Branch ECE. I opted out as I found that ECE had low placement there. I had secured a rank of 13K in VIT, I didn't apply for counseling there. My kitten rank was 390 but I didn't opt for KIIT too as it was a bit too costly. In COMEDK I secured a rank of 1237. My score was 128/180. I am a general candidate and I applied for counseling and ended up getting an ISE branch in RIT, Bangalore. In COMEDK you need to be fast and accurate if you want to secure a good rank(<1500). The admission process was online, once you get the college finalized by COMEDK, the college directly contacts you about admission. You can attempt comedk as many times you want till 21 years age. You need to have decent marks in PCM for the admission process.
Course Curriculum Overview
I love coding and my love for computers lead me to choose this stream. I found out ISE department of RIT has more scope in research and jobs than CSE. The teacher-to-student ratio is 1:30. Each of 5 students is assigned to a proctor who sees your problems (if any) in the college. He/ she is the link between student and the administration. Every faulty I came across in my FIRST year of college had completed their master's in their respective subjects and most of them had their PhD done too. I found it a bit difficult at first to interpret their tones of speaking ( as I am from NORTH), but then it became adjusted. Most faculties work hard to make the student understand the topic. There were 2 CIE for us, 30 marks each, and 1 SEE (100 marks) for each semester. Each subject had 5 units to be taught in 1 Sem. It was easy to pass if you know the concepts.
Internships Opportunities
There are a lot of opportunities in different startups for a paid internship with a stipend of upto 20K per month. Some of the notable companies are HIGH RADIUS, BYJU's, ADOBE. The main thing one has to keep in mind in order to land a good internship is that in the previous 3 years before applying for an internship one has to be loaded with all the skills necessary for landing a good job offer and a field in which he/she has a major interest in.
Placement Experience
7th semester onwards placement is given to students. Students get internships from 5 th sem onwards and some even get paid internships in good companies. Companies such as Amazon, Goldman Sachs vist giving packages worth 12-15LPA. The highest-paid job offer each year is landed by ISE department and it is about 20LPA. In ISE, CSE nearly 100% placements are provided. Some opt for research and further studies. I plan to land a good job and continue further in the field of IT.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee for students admitted by COMEDK is 2 lakh (app) and for KCET students is below 50K. That's a huge difference and likely there are not many scholarships for 1st year COMEDK students. You will not get any financial assistance too if you are not through KCET. Job on campus is not there, there are a lot of unpaid internships offers in the campus.
Campus Life
The annual fest which takes place in the college is called UDBHAV and it is among the best college fests in KARNATAKA. There's always some fest happening in the college and the college gives the students a wide field to bring up their talents. UDBHAV is conducted in December. One of the other notable fest is VTU annual fest, which is prosperous. There are 3 libraries, one separately for 1st-year students where they find only 1 st year course material. This library is just the perfect place for concentration, there is almost every necessary book there. The main library to is noteworthy. The library facility is very noteworthy The classrooms are almost the same as that of a class, fitted with lights fans and a projector aboard, and benches.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is just good. You get an almirah(small) and an iron bed. You need to buy your mattress and blanket and also other accommodation you need. each room accommodates two and the bathroom is common for each floor. The meal quality is decent and changes every day. The food is vegetarian and South Indian. The food served is always fresh. The registration [process is simple, we can either go and talk with the hostel facility or we can call and contact them. The fees for each year(2 sems) is about 1 lakh. If you rent a PG, it is much better as you can live as you wish. The locality is refreshing and only filled with college students.
