Remarks

I took admission in NRS Medical College & Hospital, Kolkata through 15% All India Quota , my AIR was 5174 which could have easily fetch me an MBBS seat in any government medical college of my own state (jharkhand) but still, i decided to get admitted in NRSMCH through AQI as this college has a legacy and being in the metro city has tremendous patient influx which provides good exposure in your UG days, NRS is well known for its academics & strict attendance further there are much more PG seats in west Bengal which will help you in your PG.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Getting an MBBS seat in India that too in a government college is itself a blessing. I decided to persue MBBS because of my inner calling. There are 250 students in one batch which makes it a little crowded but for convenience, a batch is further divided into 4 groups A B C & D to make practical classes more convenient. But for lectures, whole batch attends it together, for the first year it takes place in Sister Nivedita Large Lecture Theatre which is air-conditioned and spacious equipped with a speaker and mic so the size of the class is not an issue. As per exams are considered , NRS is way mor strict as compared to other medical colleges of kolkata , here attendance is strict and exams are taken regularly.

Internships Opportunities

4

The internship is itself include in the course for 1 year i.e after 4.5 years of studying student has to do 1 year of internship. Since NRS has tremendous patient inflow so intership gives good exposure. Also one gets a stipend which is fixed by the state government.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees are minimal somewhat 54000 for the entire course which is very cheap further u will even get a stipend in your internship days. There are many scholarships that one can apply for offered by the West Bengal government.

Campus Life

3.5

Ectasy is the annual cultural fest of NRS. There are many small celebrations as well. The library is good but i don't like its timing i.e closes by 5 in the evening, anyways you can borrow books. There is a playground in the campus and also common rooms to offer extracurricular activities

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facilities are decent for what they charge. Rs 12 is the monthly fee for hostel accommodation ( fooding excluded). There are many canteens in the campus and if you want you can get mess service as well. Rooms are shared by 3 students

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is completely based on NMC new guidelines. Along with the theory classes where we know the structure and their working in dissection we actually see them on cadaver . Lectures should be more interesting as it's get boring to literally listen the concepts for first time like a story and at the end we forget everything

Course Curriculum Overview:

Medical field is a really good field in my opinion to serve humankind and learn about science of nature and life!the curriculum is a little overpaced and there are 19 subjects which are taught in a timespan of 4.5 years which is a bit hectic! There are 4 professional exams and 9 semesters which have pretty good difficulty and assess our skills and education. We have regular examinations in around 4-5 months each. Only thing id like to change in the curriculum is better assessment of many topics which are taught pretty well but aren't examined much leading us to waste our time in focussing on them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well, mbbs is very hard and long term process. You will be bored in 1st year because you cant get real clinical cases. But in Final year, 3rd Prof Part 2, you will get huge pressure. Because there are total 11 subjects, you should study in final year. It is a great burden for all. I'm not satisfied with Nmc curriculum. They are not thinking about students. They are implement their rules in chilled ac room. But they don't know the real scenarios.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is quite planned and great and has a lot of advantages in having a clinical and learning diagnostic approach to various diseases. One area where the curriculum can improve is by having more practical classes rather than theoretical classes. The exams are quite difficult but are quite planned to make you understand the clinician and the passing percentage is 50 percent.
