I had applied for Shri Shikshyatan College, Goenka College, Jaipuria College and Xaviers College. I only got selected in Xaviers and Shri Shikshayatan College. I did not attend the counselling program at Xavier College because the fees structure was way higher than my budget for completing my graduate degree. I belong to the general quota. The criteria for selection was through merit list that means according to one's percentage scored in his/her 12th board exams whether from CBSE, cisce or state boards. I got selected in Shri Shikshayatan College in the first merit list for both the courses B.COM and BBA but chose BCOM. I went for counselling and it was conducted in a pretty good way as the college had given student their UID numbers earlier. It had divided students into different slots and given different timings for each slot. step by step everything was carried out in a proper manner which made the process faster.

I chose BCOM (HONS) because I wanted to learn financial accounting and further go for masters in finance stream. The faculty of Shri Shikshayatan College is very good and reputed. The college is even considered one of the best colleges in Kolkata under cbcs for BCOM. This is a girls college and is quite disciplined. The faculty here consist mainly of lady teachers of all age groups. They teach only in English. The college has male teachers but in few numbers. Every 5-6 months the semester exams are taken and also internals by the college is taken. The question papers set by the college for internals are moderate to difficult. The semester papers are also moderate to difficult set by Calcutta University.

Our college provides placement opportunities along with giving training on soft skill developments. 70% of the students get internships. But in our college, the student needs to show interest in getting internships and placements only the inreturn the college gives a helping hand. Companies like omnifin solution, indigo, SpiceJet, Wipro come for internships. The one who is willing to join can update their CV and fill a form. They can do internships if their CV gets selected. Thy company comes and takes an interview after that, the dress code should be formals.

In our college students from the 4th semester to 6th semester can sit for placements. Every year many companies like Indigo, Wipro, PWC, Deloitte, Decathlon, nerdy turtle's etc visit our campus for selection of students. Every company that visits the campus selects a minimum of 7 students. around 70% -80% of students of our college get placed every year. The packages provided are 2 lakhs - 3 lakhs per annum. The big companies provide a bit higher packages than the other companies. The placement cell of our college is considered the best among the colleges of Calcutta.

The fees in Shri Shikshayatan College are a bit high as compared to other colleges in Kolkata. Ones with not good financial support or background will have difficulty in paying their fees for every upcoming semester. For every semester it takes around Rs 20000. There is also scholarships and fee curtailment schemes for the ones who are meritorious students and who do not have a good financial background. It also provides a loan facility to help the students so as fees structure does not become hinder between their studies. A minimum of 7 students is selected by each company that visits the campus. The annual package given by the visiting companies is 2 lakhs to 3 lakhs. Near about 75% - 80% of students are placed every year.

The Annual Fest of Shri Sikshayatan College is called SRIJAN is always takes place in the month of February every year. Other functions also take place like dance, debate, annual function, podium, singing etc. Our college has a wonderful and big library that consists of alost every book that is needed along with newspapers and journals. The classrooms are regularly cleaned and moped. Each classroom consists of 3-4 air connditioners and 6 fans in every classroom. Each classroom can accommodate 140-200 students. Mics and projectors are also available in each classroom. There are different societies and clubs fuctioning inside the campus each hving a mentor teacher. There are also camps like blood donation, helping the poor, empowerment of women, drama etc.
