My life at SMU

I belong to sikkim and SMU is one of the best colleges to study in my state. I also took up BBA because it offers a lot of opportunities in corporate sectors and finance as well. The admission is totally based on merit, in which my class 12 marksheets had to be at least above 55%, followed by a personal interview. The application forms were available online as well as offline and it cost me Rs 1000.

BBA is one of the most prominent course to take after completing class 12 as it offers a great scope in finance and Human resource sectors, including marketing as well. The faculty consisted of two assistant professors and two senior professors and they were teaching in SMU for the past seven years. We had weekly tests and assignments including internal semester and then an external. The internals and assignments helped us to score well in our external examination.

SMU has a very good placement cell especially for engineering students. The internships begin from the 2nd year during summers and for placements it occurs during the final year. Some of the top recruiters are amazon, wipro infosys including sales brands like Tommy hilfiger and H&M. The average package starts from 2.5 lakhs p.a and can go upto 20 lakhs p.a .

For a local student like me it was sixty thousand rupees per semester and whereas for outsiders it was around five thousand more than the local resident's fee. Scholarships are available as well. It is merit and need based. The government of sikkim also offers scholarships to deserving candidates.

karlav is the biggest college fest of north-east. It is a three day fest which hosts competitions in dance, music, fashion and many more. The campus too is very beautiful and has indoor basketball courts to football grounds, a nice swimming pool and the class consists of smart classes as well.
