Remarks
It was one of the top NITs in 2016, best what i could get according to my marks. It was just 200km from my hometown so that served as a good reason too. The placement stats of this college are fairly good. Not to mention facilities like a big library, tennis courts, football and cricket fields, gym, basketball courts, table tennis courts and what not.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose electrical because my rank couldn't get CSE/IT and i knew from a relative that students from electronics and electrical engineering branches get to apply for most of companies coming for SDE/SWE roles. In electrical engineering, the faculties are well versed with specialized knowledge and all are qualified with PhD degrees from esteemed institution and all have published significant numbers of research papers. Syllabus updation takes more time than it should, and teaching pattern has a lot of scope for improvement; but that teaches the students to search for knowledge instead of spoon feeding them and that results in better knowledge. There are mid term exam and end term exam. Passing them is easy but scoring good in them is where people struggle because that requires highly refined domain knowledge.
Internships Opportunities
Just like the campus placements, there are a lot of internship opportunities available.but mostly for CSE department or for SDE roles only. DE Shaw, Goldman Sachs etc come to hire students and they hire them at good packages also
Placement Experience
The college is one of the best NITs when it comes to placement. The campus placement for CSE IT department is the best and they bag companies going till 49LPA packages too. From Microsoft to Visa, every good company comes to hire. For core branches stats come slightly down in terms of CTC and number of jobs as well. For chemical, mechanical and electrical, Various PSUs like IOCL, GAIL, etc come to hire at very good ctc. Various consultancies also come to hire people from almost all branches.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is available from their academic website to download. The fee structure is divided in 3 tiers based on caste quota and family income. All SC/ST have to pay 31000 per sem. People with family income more than 5 lakh per annum have to pay 95000 and those between 1-5LPA have to pay 62500 and below 1LPA have to pay 31000. 12000 is included as hostel fee and for mess students pay around 17000 extra. A lot of scholarship opportunities are available but most of them are from state/central govt but not from college.
Campus Life
There are a lot of cultural committees, clubs like robotics club, coding club, IoT club and sports clubs like football volleyball table tennis cricket weight lifting etc. My college life was filled with fun. There are numerous fests like techno fest named Avishkar which is held in month of September, curtural fest named culrav held every April, entrepreneurial fests like renaissance, robotics aeronautics and iot fest called prosang, etc. Library has every kind of books in it. It is a 2 floor library filled with books and rooms. Many classrooms have AC in them. Benches are good quality. a lot of extra curricular activities happen all time of the year from photography to dramatics to dance to music. It's fun!
