Overall a good environment

Panjab University has a good reputation globally. The university offers a heap of opportunities in academics and sports. PU has support for a number of different sports like archery, shooting etc. UIET has a good faculty and infrastructure according to the fee structure. UIET also receives funds from govt for research and has specialised labs like DIC and E-Yantra. UIET had an average placement in 2016. However with time the reputation of college has got betterml. Companies like Amazon, Samsung have also started visiting the campus. Chandigarh is a good place to live and spend your college life.

Coursework offered by UIET is great. They follow the course structure taught at IIT Roorkee. Being a govt college, there is no management quota and only reserving candidates get a seat who have secured a good rank in JEE exam. Each branch has max 120 seats out of which 2 sections are made. Therefore student to teacher ratio is not that large. Making it better for the students to grab opportunities.

Last semester of the college is internship/ training. If the company in which the student is placed offers a internship then great otherwise students can themselves look for internships. Marks in the last semester are given according to the work done at the internship.

UIET has offers good placementd for CS and IT students. In my batch around 95% people were placed. With time, the reputation of the college is getting better and big MNC's are visiting the campus. In 2020, companies like Amazon, Samsung, Deloitte, KPMG, ZS associates, Infosys, Capgemini etc visited the campus.

Fee structure is simple. The fees is not much as compared to standards of engineering colleges in India. Hostel fees is also very affordable which is about 6k for 6 months. UIET has a good placement record for CS and IT. Companies like Amazon, Samsung, Deloitte, KPMG etc visit the campus.

Social life at the university is great. The campus is huge. Has a lot of greenery. There are a number of opportunities in terms of sports. University has a number of grounds for cricket, football, badminton, lawn tennis, archery, shooting etc. Apart from sports, PU also supports academics having the largest library i. e AC Joshi library which is open 24*7. There are reading halls for students. Each dept has their own committees and clubs like dramatics, dance, theatre etc. UIET has clubs like magboard, bpc, Mitra etc. Campus also has good eating joints at students center (stu-c) and sector 14 market. University is also close to sector 15 market and PGI.
