Remarks
MANIT is the best technical college within the state. Being an NIT, the college have national importance. It has huge reputation for its culture and discipline among students. Placements are the main attraction points, as it has one of best placement percentage anywhere in the state. And many companies of different sectors tend to visit the college.
Course Curriculum Overview
B.planning course was introduced in the college in year 2008, since then it is the only NIT that provides the B.planning course. The course curriculum focuses mainly on practical knowledge on urban physical planning. The highest weighted subject in every semester is studio, there are various levels of plans and in each semester, student works on to preapre one of this plans about a selected site/location. The faculty is very helpful to the students who is eager to learn. The also help in publishing papers in international and national journals. The faculty student ratio is very good. There are more than 40-50 professors in the department. The cousre is based on semester pattern. And each semester has a mini, mid and end term exam. The marks distribution for each subject is 10,20,40 for mini, mid, end term respectively, 30 marks are on assignments and remaining 10 for attendence and other activities. The thing they need to add is, that the course doesn't include much on teaching various software. And they need to increase books and journals related to planning in the library
Internships Opportunities
I did my internship in Nagpur smart city. The nagpur smart city organization was working in developing an area on the outskorts of the city, realocation and land use planning was the main objective. I got to learn alot of things from this internship, and gained valuable knowledge about the field work.
Placement Experience
There are no core companies visiting for hiring B.planners. Most of the companies hire M.plan students. A NGO named pradhan visit every year and hire 4-5 student every year. The package given by pradhan is 7.5 lac. For opportunities in core planning jobs, the student need to complete masters degree.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees structure for the course are of 2 types. One is yearly and secondly, it is semester wise. For family income for than 5 lacs, the annual fees for is 1.35 lacs and for each semester is 70000. For family income more than 1 lac to 5lac, the annual fees is 50000 and for each semester it is 28000. And for family income less than 1 lac, annually it is 11000 and semester wise it is 7000. The college also helps to get you scholarship from various government schemes as per your category.
Campus Life
The campus is one of the largest amongst NITs. It is spread across 650 acres of land. The camous is lush green during raing seasons and has a very soothing atmosphere. Every year 2 major events are organised. The technical fest is one of the largest in central india. In cultural events many big national and international celebrities perform. There many societies within college, dance club and nukkad natak are the one of the best in city.
Admission
There is no Group Discussion or interview for admissions.The admission process is completely based on the JEE mains paper-2 score. The cap round conducted by Josaa is the only way a student can get admitted in the college. There is no management based quota admission.
