Remarks
We were provided with an online admission form to fill along with a username and a password. We had to create it and keep it with us for future use. After filling the form, we had to enrol ourselves on the university. After the merit lists were out, we went to the college to get our admission form printed along with some personal details like our 10th mark sheet, 12th mark sheet and our birth certificate and other important documents. After we had done all the procedure, we paid the fees online and after we received the receipt, our admission procedure was complete. I had opted for the Minority Category being a Christian. I had got a 25% discount on my total admission fees. The fees were, 26000, but after opting for minority I had to pay Rs. 25,250. There are many other quotas that you can opt for and regarding that, there will be a discount on your fees structure.
Course Curriculum Overview
Ever since my childhood, I had a liking for microbes and the smaller part of the best universe. And Hislop being such a wonderful college has provided the opportunity for students like me at an affordable price. We have about 60 students in our class which are relatively small, which allows the students and teachers to interact really well. The teachers teach very well and in a student-friendly way. They have an interesting way of teaching us and making us understand well. We have wonderful teachers who love us and care for us. They use virtual teaching methods in practical ways. My overall experience with the teachers has been going very well as they have helped me with everything regarding studies and everything else. They have been supporting us and inspiring us motivating us to study well and to make a better future. They teach well and keep conducting webinars and tests after each unit is complete so that we can study well. They have always gone out of the way to help us.
Internships Opportunities
Hislop college provides really good placements and internships to their students (Bsc II). The students definitely get a better job after completing this internship. The students get to do their internships in the best companies so that they could get a better job experience.
Fees and Financial Aid
In Hislop college, the fees for biotechnology is Rs. 26,000 which is actually very affordable. But for me, since I had joined through the Minority Quota, I had to pay Rs. 25,250 because I had got a discount of 25%. There is a wide range of courses for you to select in Hislop. Science, Arts and Commerce courses are available and you can choose to your liking. Even though the price might be a little high, it would be worth it because of the quality of education which is provided for us. Scholarships are provided to the students with some average marking scheme (above 75%) or if you are an NCC Cadete. The fees are affordable for the other courses like zoology, botany and all. It would be around Rs. 10,000. So, if you opt for any of the Quota then you would get a discount on your fees up to 50%. So overall, what I'm trying to say is the fees are affordable, if not you could apply for the scholarship provided by the college or the government.
Campus Life
If everything is normal you would get a fresher's/ welcome party and you would have your Annual Fest. The college has an annual fest - Athena which is held in January after the Christmas Vacation. The library is huge with your own personal space where you can study and do your work quietly. The books and the journal's there are related to the course you are doing. You can use them as a reference for your research or as per your liking. The classroom is well equipped with a projector and a whiteboard for the teachers and a single individual desk and chair for each student. The college consists of a gym. And the college is also well known for its involvement in the sports field. You can always go and join the gym club or the athletes or any sport. The college also involves NCC for both girls and boys. The college conducts many quizzes and other ECA activities too. There are many other clubs in the college run by students like chess, gym, Rotaract, and sports, and many more.
