Entrance Preview

Basically I came from a non-IT background. My natural interest was marketing. Therefore, I choose to give IIBS entrance test. I scored around 80 plus percentile, which was enough to secure a seat here in IIBS campus. My choice indeed was complemented with best of the exposure in marketing management.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

We had a comprehensive syllabus covering the entire field of management. The first two semesters focus mainly on subjects which are common to all specializations. Beginning with 3rd semester till end of 4th semester, electives would come into picture. Because I had opted for marketing management, I got to choose electives belonging to my specialization.

Internships Opportunities

Internship opportunities are plenty to students willing to learn practical side of management. It also comes with an encouraging stipend. I got to do an internship for a marketing agency. During the period of internship training, I was required to promote and sell their consumer duarables to household in and around the city. Initially, I found it uninteresting, but by the end of it I was richer with marketing knowledge

Placement Experience

5

IIBS is better known for its placement history. Every year, it organizes campus recruitment drive. Most of the leading companies nearby as well as far off visit our campus to pick the best available talent. The number of campus recruits is growing with each passing year.

College Events

4.5

During my 2-year MBA at IIBS, I can recall number of college events both inside and outside our campus. Importantly, we had guest lectures & eminent business personalities enlightening us to business concepts. I personally participated in many inter & intra college events, and won a few prizes too. The biggest attraction was our annual ‘SURFACE’ – which brought out our hidden talents to the fore.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Before joining, I had it in my mind that my MBA would be a financial burden on my parents. Because I had heard & seen B-Schools charging exorbitantly to MBA aspirants. Luckily, IIBS fee structure & other miscellaneous expenditure were within my reach.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am not aware of any loans being offered or arranged at IIBS. If you ask me about the necessity of such loans, well I feel it would benefit the needy who cannot support their educational expenses despite being studious. At the same time, I appreciate IIBS’ initiative to honor meritorious students.

Campus Life

4.5

IIBS campus provided the best campus life that students would dream of. Being a resident student, I could maximize my campus-stay and soak in all the experience. On the learning side, I got to learn in the best facilities. Throughout my stay, I was part of many activities like inter and intra college events. In all, it provided the most conducive environment for my personality development.

Hostel Facilities

4

We were provided with decent hostel facilities if not the best. There were basic amenities such as spacious space to live in with good furnishing. Our food needs were taken care of by a hygienic mess attached to the hostel. Breakfast, lunch & dinner had different menu each.

Alumni/Alumna

I found IIBS Alumni Association very useful in promoting friendly & career relation amongst its alumni. Already a large association with ex-graduates, IIBS Alumni assemble every year for an alumni meet, where seniors pass on us to me IIBS is evolving into a leading B-School. It has decent campus facilities along with industry connection, which is so important in securing placement for its graduates. One observation though, It needs to be still more spacious with its own landscaping to be able stand amongst the best. eful tips on life after MBA to recent pass-outs.

Exam Structure

IIBS is part of tri-university curriculum – Bangalore, Mysore and Bharathiar. Therefore, the exam pattern is similar to what is found in most of the recognized universities across the country. As seen elsewhere, we too had a 4-semester MBA exam structure. Enough time was available in between the semesters to prepare for the exam. Like other B-School exam pattern, here also weighted average of all the semesters was considered to calculate grand percentile.

Faculty

5

Our faculty was a find blend of guest lecturers and in-house permanent teaching staff. They were all knowledgeable in their respective subjects. I found them open & interactive with students. We really benefited a lot from their innovative teaching methodology which included case-study approach to many a marketing-related concept.

Placement Experience:

Placements in the college are good for marketing specialization. Compared to other specializations, from semester 2 itself, students become eligible for campus placements. Companies like Deloitte, KPMG, ICICI Bank, and HDFC Bank visit the campus. The highest package this year was 40 LPA, and the average package is around 6.5 LPA. The percentage of students getting placed is 70% for now. After getting the degree, selection in a good company is my plan.

The average package offered is moderate and there are limited opportunities for high paying roles compared to top tier colleges. Companies that visit the campus are mostly small to mid sized organizations. The placement cell is very supportive and conduct training sessions such as aptitude tests, mock interviews and soft skills development to prepare students for placements.

Placement Experience:

Placement in my college is decent, wiyh around 90% of students are getting placed. Students usually become eligible for placement in their final year and the college provides internships opportunities before that, which helps in gaining experience. Many companies visit to campus mainly from marketing and sales, along with some roles in HR and operations. The number of offer is good but option for finance and analytic are comparatively limited.

I would like to rate the course 7 out of 10. Because as these is a distance learning many difficulties occur. I am doing a MBA in ksou after my graduation in b. Com. As ksou comes under UGT it is more helpful for the job seeker. As per my knowledge the faculty should conduct a more classes may be through online so that the working people can attend the classes from wherever they want. There are many distance learning courses in ksou academic platform but they are not handling in a accuracy. They take a lot of time to announce a results, even to conduct a exams they take a lot of time.
