Remarks

I applied to Sophia, Jai hind, Wilson and Mithibai. I got admission to all the above-mentioned colleges. However, I chose Sophia because it has a great psychology course and has a good set of teachers as well. I had my name on the first merit list however, to meet up the admission criteria a student had to score a maximum of 85%-86% in their 12th boards. The admission process was pretty smooth. I had to choose three main subjects. All the subjects, basics, criteria and future possibilities were told to us in a very smooth and understandable manner.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose this course because I wish to pursue BA in Psychology in the future. So this was the best option for me. I don't know much about the qualification of the faculty members but however, they all have had atleast done masters /PHD in their respective fields. The term exams are pretty hectic. We don't really get enough study leaves so it's a bit hectic. And teachers tend to set difficult papers as well.

Internships Opportunities

4

We have a club solely for internships. It is the placement cell of Sophia college that gives us updates about the internships that is taking place in the different fields. I have worked in JURNI- which is a London based media company. JURNI enhanced my knowledge of digital marketing and communication skills.

Placement Experience

4

From semester 6, students are eligible to apply for the placements. I am not sure about the placements and the starting salary for it as of now. My plans after getting a BA psychology degree would be to apply for masters. I'd love to pursue Industrial Psychology in the future. And I wish to study it in Canada or Europe hopefully.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees I feel is not much. It's only 6k per year. So most of the time students don't face issues paying the fees. As of now, I haven't had got any sort of scholarship or financial assistance/Jon on campus.

Campus Life

4

We have our college annual feat "kaleidoscope" which is really very famous. A lot of famous actors and actresses have also attended the fest. The fest includes all competitions from music, dance to face painting and fashion shows. We have about 13 clubs in our college. Which includes a music dance club, science club, drama club a sports club and the list goes on. All the 13 clubs cover everything that a student wishes to pursue or learn during their college life. These 13 clubs are run by the students themselves.

Quite substandard and below average. Prioritised rote learning over critical thinking. Just a rubber stamp for a degree. No actual education ever took place. Exams were anually or bi annually. Exams were difficult if you cannot write 30 pages in 3 hours.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculam is designed for all round development of the student and to make that person an expert in that field, these aspects influeneced me to choose it. Very well, with extra paper of real world application on each subject it ensures that we take something from the course and become industry ready The teachings methods and cirriculam are excellent I don't think any changes are required Exams are all year round, every month and are extremly difficult to deal with, as Xavier's bar is very high.

Yes, there is no specific place where we get to know that whether the college is open or not on a specific day like the day which has been declared closed by the government. The college doesn’t provide this facility for us. We have to move all towards our home to the college to get this thing.
