Remarks
I took CLAT and applied to my current institution, i.e. Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia Millia Islamia. I got an average score on CLAT 2017 and got selected in the aforementioned institutions, so, I was at liberty and privilege to choose and drop either, I went in to choose Aligarh Muslim University as some seniors and relatives who are completely or partially involved in the legal field said and suggested it as the syllabus and education system of Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University is a better one to get a good foundation of basics and as far as exposure is concerned, the capital city is three hours away. Though I was selected in Aligarh Muslim University, my rank wasn't as good as to get into the Aligarh campus, hence, to avail myself of the Aligarh campus seat I had used the alumni quota, which is offered to the wards of All Alumni of the Institution. The course in which I am enrolled is an integrated course of Bachelor of Arts and Legum Baccalaureus. The counselling went smoothly.
Course Curriculum Overview
Ever since I was in high school I had focussed on the aspect of justice and lack of justice. Though I come from a purely science background, the justice part is often missing which attracted me towards law and legal aid, that's why I am pursuing B.A. LL.B. All the faculty members are very knowledgeable and top-notch in their particular aspects of the legal field. We have some guest faculties who are practising Advocates, who give the students practical insights into the legal profession. In my personal opinion, there is a need for the increment to the number of faculty members especially after the increased number of seats in the courses faculty of law offers. All professors are PhD and the associate and assistant professors are pursuing their PhD. Everything is fine and nice until we talk about the conduction of exams. Well firstly being a part of a university kinda affects the regulation of exams and also, how the faculty of Law structure of exams and evaluation is different from other faculties.
Fees and Financial Aid
Considering that it's a central University, the fees is pretty affordable and as far as scholarships are concerned, there are plenty on the basis of financial status of the student, and also on the merit of the students. The scholarship varies in what they provide and how they select the candidates for the scholarship. The stipend job on campus is something where the University as a whole is lacking. Even part-time jobs for undergraduate or postgraduate student are not as frequent as one may like.
Campus Life
The campus life is pretty fun, nice and unique. It is something for which students are even ready to stay back at campus during vacations. There is CEC or Cultural and Education Centre, which has many different clubs branching from there. And almost all the clubs hold fests and other smaller programs through the year. For which the smart classroom, the club room and the Kennedy auditorium is present in campus. There are several sports clubs as well, one just needs to sign up with the registration form for the sports clubs and join in to actual rigourous or just casual fun at the sports clubs. The official Library of Aligarh Muslim University, Maulana Azad Library is the Second Biggest Library in Asia; and holds all sorts of books for you courses and otherwise too. There are some ancient and enticing pieces in the library which can only be borrowed to read but not taken by the students, it forms a part of national treasure of knowledge. There are many groups run by students.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel rooms which generally the students are provided within a shared room with a number of roommates ranging from one other person to upto 7 other people. How many roommates a student would get depends upon which hostel of the hall they are assigned in. The room is supplied with a wardrobe, a bed and a desk for almost all residents. The room has a fan, a window and curtains for the window. Students can take permission from the provost office or either of the wardens to get a air cooler installed to their rooms. As of now the facility of Air Conditioning is not available nor from the hostel side nor by the students on their own. The menu for food usually varies from hostel to hostel and generally, the student body in the hostel takes into account the demands of the residents and form a menu which is periodically changed. The registration process for a hostel is simple but lengthy. The process can get tedious especially if you don't have knowledge of what all is required for the process.
