Remarks
The admission process was done through an entrance exam as per the choice of my exam center preference. The exam contained 100 questions covering different sections like Qualitative ability, Quantitative analysis, General knowledge, and English. There was no negative marking. If I talk about the level of difficulty, then it was moderate. The Cut off marks for the General category were around 50. After making your position on the merit list you need to attend a session of document verification and before that, you need to register from the official Website to avail hostel facilities. On the day of document verification, they ask you to fill a form where you have to mention your choices for subjects and basic information, and after that, they verify your documents such as Character certificate, TC,12th mark sheets, etc and then they would ask you to join the classes from a particular date if there aren't any mistakes in the documents otherwise they would ask you to correct it in a given period of time.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have opted for Geography. The reason behind opting for this subject is it fascinates me because it talks about how our earth, its movements, different landforms in detail, basically this subject provides me the answer to every question related to nature because Geography shares a spatial relationship with nature and mankind. The faculty is good, few teachers are remarkably good and few are just good. They all possess deep knowledge about the subject only the teaching style differs from person to person. The strength of our class is 70. The total no. Of faculty in our department is 8 I guess. We have two internals, assignments, presentation in each subject, practicals, and a final end Semester examination every 6 months which makes a semester. The teachers seek quality long answers with appropriate diagrams, maps, graphs, pie charts, histograms, and all. It's quite tough to meet their expectations and fetch marks in the 50s out of 60. The final end sem exams are of 60 marks each.
Internships Opportunities
We don't have internship or placement opportunities for humanities students. Internships and placement programs are for different departments such as B.Voc, B.Pharma, BBA, BBA(travel and tourism).
Placement Experience
After completing our graduation and post-graduation we can seek employability in Weather forecasting departments, Geological departments, we can become a cartographer, and even we have scopes in City planning. As India is a second highly populated country with a fixed area we need proper planners who can plan a well-developed city keeping in mind all the necessary changes and sustainable development.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are very minimal as it is a central university. The fee is Rs.860/- only per semester for General category students. For OBC and SC, STs the fees are lower than this. The scholarships are only for the OBC, SC, and STs. As I am a student belonging to the Humanities department that's why I haven't got any internship opportunity.
Campus Life
We live in the lap of nature without any kind of distractions because there isn't any Club, pub or malls, PVR or movie theatres outside the campus. It is situated near a village area with nature's beauty. The environment of the campus is peaceful. One can barely encounter any conflict inside the campus. The students are moderately involved in student politics. There are 2 girls hostel OBC/New girls hostel and RDGH and for boys, there are 3 hostels OBC/New boys hostel, GGBH, and Sone boys hostel (this is dedicated to the P.hd scholars) and there are several number of canteens located at different corners of the campus. The Baba Canteen is famous among all where you can get a variety of junk and fast foods, others provide simple foods like Poha Jalebi(famous in MP) There's a Kerela fest organized by the South Indians in October I guess, then We have NCC day, NSS day and several other cultural programs and awareness rallies. We have huge diversified students from all over India.
Hostel Facilities
As I have mentioned earlier for girls there are two hostels New Girls hostel and RDGH with an annual fee of 1650. As the name suggests the New Girls hostel is a newly constructed hostel. I live in that hostel only. On the other hand, RDGH is an old hostel.NGH's construction is like normal regular buildings but it's very well planned from the inside. The rooms are quite big,4 students share each room. There are 3 floors in total with a huge terrace. Even the balconies are very spacious one can nicely hang their washed clothes on the balcony. The caretaker and the guards live in the same hostel in separate rooms. I literally love my room, it possesses four tube lights each in the corner and two fans. The cupboards are very spacious and enough for one's luggage. The food of the hostel is below average. We always have issues with the hostel food, they don't provide seasonal vegetables and provide Tofu only once a week. The food is even worse for non-veg students as the food is completely veg there.
