An Honest Review

Through NMAT, I had applied only for NMIMS Mumbai. I don't have any quota to avail. A person who is taking the NMAT exam should have either graduated in any discipline or should be in his/her final year of graduation. There is no age limit to apply to this course. Generally, the scores are converted into percentile and you need to be in the top 4-5 percentiles to be eligible for the next rounds of the admission process. The admission process after the NMAT test includes Case Discussion in a group followed by a PI at the campus in Mumbai.

I wanted to change my career domain into management. The student-teacher ratio is good. Should be 30 students per teacher. The faculty is really good and highly qualified. Exams happen in a timely manner and the difficulty level is average.

50-60% of students are able to get good internships and the rest of the students have to enter into the start-ups for the internships. The projects provided in the internships are generally confidential and there is of course some learning, a student gets around the business environment. Many big brands come to the campus but stipends are not as high as those provided to top IIMs.

The average package mentioned in the placement reports seems inflated but it happens for most of the colleges in India. From the 5th trimester, the students start appearing for the final placements. Similarly, the summer placements start taking place in the first year in the first trimester itself. 50-60% of students end up getting good packages or job roles. The rest usually have to adjust for small start-ups.

The fee is very high. Every academic year, the fee is increased by the college. When I did my first year, the one-year fee was 10.42 lakhs and in the very next year, the fee was increased to 10.95 lakhs. Top scorers of NMAT get a scholarship too. I just got an internship that pays Rs 15000 per month as a stipend.

I am a 2020-22 batch student so have not had an opportunity to visit campus so far. Although, the fests and other college activities continued to happen in the online mode. There are technical as well as cultural fests. There are many clubs and cells and through them, you can organize different events. The classes take place on the Zoom platform. The online library portal is provided to the students and the course-related books are sent to the students' residence via courier.

Yes, there was a case discussion round which is more or less similar to the group discussion. This round happens after you qualify for the exam NMAT, an objective type test with quantitative ability, logical reasoning, and verbal ability. The personal interview for me revolved around my work experience and hygiene questions.
