I have entered this college through TNEA counselling which was conducted in online mode. The minimal cut off for the general category to get cse department in GCT is 188.5 and the minimal cut off varies for different categories. The aspirants must be less than 25 years old. The counselling fee was Rs.500 for the general category. Counselling was conducted in three rounds. Next to the certificate uploading step, the choice filling was done which was a very crucial step in the whole counselling process. Seats are allotted as per your cut off marks. If you are not willing to join the seat allotted by TNEA, you can quit. But you are no more eligible to choose other colleges in the first round. The admission process was pretty simple. I have visited the college with my parents. I have submitted my documents and paid the initial fee of Rs.4500 to confirm my admission.

To say about curriculum and faculties of Government college of technology, they are providing good faculty strength with faculty and student ratio of 1:18, which is good count to provide quality education to all the students. I have chosen BE.,cse in GCT. I have selected this course because of the interest I have in coding. As this is the point which decides your carrier, you have to take the decision very carefully and most importantly as per your wish. All the staffs here are well experienced such that they can provide you education along with their practical knowledge. With the years of experience, they can handle students with any mentality very easily and they can mould you as a good personality besides a good engineer. Semester exams are conducted timely and the question paper will be in such a way that only a deep understanding of concepts can help you clear the papers.

Our placement cells work efficiently helping in the placements of students. Almost all students got internship from companies around the district. A design engineer is a topmost role offered. Overall our company is better in terms of academics as well as placements.

From the 6th semester, students are eligible for campus placements. Around 90% of students got placed from our college every year. The highest salary package offered is 12 lakh per annum, the lowest salary package offered is 2 lakh per annum and the average is 4.5 lakh per annum. The top recruiting companies of our college are Zoho, ABCO, Robert Bosch, Amazon, Altimetrix, Analytics Quotient, Latent view and Yahoo.

As this is a government college, the fee is very minimal that most students can afford. The college fee is Rs.9,500 per year which includes tuition fee, development fee, computer charges and other fees. For economically backward students who cannot afford the fees, many scholarships are also available in college, which will be very useful for students. some of the scholarships which benefit our students are Seimen, FFE, Pragati, community and GCT Alumni scholarship. We can obtain a minimum amount of Rs.5,000 to the maximum amount of Rs.40,000 through the scholarship provided by our college.

GCT is a place where you can learn and enjoy it equally. Many cultural and tech festivals will be conducted which give a different feel for us. Cultural are conducted once every 6 months. Some of the cultural events conducted in our college are sangamam, muthamizh vila, etc. GCT library has nearly 69,000+ books 950+ journal CDs. For the ease of students, each department has a separate library. Sports meet is conducted each yours. Many clubs are also in GCT, which is the thing I love the most in our college. There are many clubs in our college like Y's youth club, Rotrat club, NSS, NCC, Green club, Sports club, SJC, LDS, Thamizh mandram and fine arts which all are purely run by the students through which we can expose and develop our skills. Administration aspirats council provides support and guide the aspirants who are preparing for civil service examinations. Many sessions, events and competitions are conducted by the clubs. We can develop ourselves in all fields through these clubs.

Speaking about the hostel facilities, GCT provides separate hostel buildings for each year students. The hostel fee is Rs.20,000 per year. Each hostel has a separate warden and deputy warden. Caretakers are also there. They are available at any time (day and night) for any help. Girls and boys have a separate hostel. Girls hostel is provided with a cot, writing desk, chair, light and fan. The boy's hostel does not have a fan. Rooms will not be as good as provided by private institutions. But will be neat enough and will be furnished with necessities. Mess is also in each building separately. Food provided is bread and jam, chappati, poori, Pongal, dosa, idly, mixed rice and meals. Tea, coffee, milk and snacks are also provided daily. The dispensary is also inside the hostel campus for emergency medical needs.
