Xavier’s in my heart!!!

Pdpu and Amity university were some of the colleges to which I had applied. I had opted for BBA in these colleges. I didn't attend any of these colleges because I more deviated towards the tech field and for me, making my career in the tech field seemed to be a better option. St Xavier’s curriculum and infrastructure were much better than any other college which made me chose this college. Getting into this college was probably one of the best decisions of my life. St Xavier’s allots merit-based admission to students with a cut-off of 70-75%. Students between the age of 17 to 20 years can apply. We have to fill an admission form online with our details. A merit list is released for every board and if our name is there in the list, we are selected for admission.

I am pursuing bachelor's in Computer Applications. I chose this degree because I'm interested in software development and because it's a great career option. I have many friends in this college who are senior to me and I have heard a lot about the infrastructure and campus life from them. The faculty: student ratio is decent. Teachers pay a good amount of attention to the students and our doubts get easily solved. All the teachers are experts in their fields. Teachers focus more on practical knowledge than theory. There are many labs with computers on which we practice practical work. Exams are taken two times in a semester. A mid-sem exam and then an end-sem exam. Exams occur on a gap of three months. If we have paid enough attention in the class then it's easy to pass the exam.

Companies like LEADSGURU, CAREER360, and many others provide internships to St Xavier's students with stipends that are good enough. These companies provide the role of campus ambassador. Companies like WORLD VASTRA, SOLUBAB, provide internships related to web development. When a student gets the role of campus ambassador, his/her role is to promote the programs in the college and make his/her friends aware of the role in the internships.

After the 5th semester, students are eligible for campus placements. Several software development companies like MICROSOFT, ORACLE, WIPRO visit the campus to hire students. Companies for system Administrators are HLL and CITIBANK. Students can get a package of up to 3 lakhs per annum in these companies. The percentage of sxca students getting hired is approximately 70%. I wish to pursue a master's degree in the same field after completing my bachelor's.

16000rs is the approximate cost per semester to study in St Xavier’s. This year the fees were reduced because of covid. Students are provided with internship opportunities by the college for which the students get stipends. Students are provided with scholarships who are not financially strong. Many students are provided with these scholarships. A separate fund is there for scholarship opportunities that are provided to the students. This is a great initiative by the college to provide students with education who are not lucky enough financially to pursue it themselves. A number of scholarships and prizes are given every year to the students so that the students stay motivated.

A cultural fest is organized every year which is one of the best parts of this college. This year due to covid, the fest was held online, yet we enjoyed it a lot. It is a great opportunity for students to showcase their talent and skills. There is a massive library which is at the disposal of the students. The library is filled with a huge variety of books of different genres which would help the students to expand their knowledge. Projectors and computers are present in the classes to help students study better. Football ground, cricket ground, volleyball court, and basketball courts are there for students to play and practice. Coaches are present in the college to provide students with the best skills and knowledge about the respective sport. There are several clubs like PGOP NCC AND NSS programs.
