LIFE and CULTURE @ GCT

I applied for many top colleges in Tamilnadu like PSG, SSN, anna university CEG campus and anna university MIT campus but due to the fees they collect from students, I preferred choosing GCT, Coimbatore. I availed MBC quota in TNEA counselling. my cutoff was 187 and this cutoff remained at the end coz most of the toppers would claim the seat in this college but fortunately I got admission in GCT:) so coming to the admission process, GCT solely gets its freshers through TNEA counselling and for entering TNEA counselling u must have 60% above marks in PCM subjects but for GCT the cutoff must be above 170 for a general category student to get admitted in last preferred batch of the courses offered. so be cautious! for our batch, the whole counselling process went through the online way which was so smooth and swiftly I got into GCT:)

I choose CS coz of the growing to whelm in this field. The faculty student ration is like 1:20. speaking about qualification they are masters in their fields and they all get recruite through government exams so all of them are totalyy thriving and their way of teaching still remains in old ways so thats a lagging part if u keep ur way with classes then passing in XM, is not at all an issue its way easy and those term exams i guess will happen for every 1 and half month.

internship opportunities for core departments are made available by the college itself but for IT based studs internships are only available in fewer numbers in companies like SEIMES, ETC. we do projects right from our first years but those projects are not so real thus they are termed as mini project but though we put them in resumes for applying internships and u know what we get selected in those internships by means of them.

From sem 7 u r open to get placed in GCT, many top companies like ZOHO, INFOSYS, COGNIZANT, ORACLE come to hire freshers and if you are a cs/it stud percentage of getting hired is around 95, highest pay got by our senior is around 12lakhs per annum, nearly 98% of status from CS field gets placed here, after getting this degree am going to opt for campus placements in those lavishing companies.

arrey, fees structure is the most important thing which gathers lumps of toppers here. only rs.9500 is collected as tuition fees every year and all the way to scholarship alumni support of GCT is always there to help u. if u get stumbled to pay ur tuition fee or mess fee or hostel fee there are whelming support from GCT alumni also some teachers also support stud education through financial support as well. I got FFE scholarship in my first year itself and it's gonna come till my last year so I just stopped getting financial help from my parents and started giving them financial support:).

there are 2 mega fests each year conducted in GCT one of which is called SANGAMAM this fest takes studs to their peak for almost 3 whole days. we have an individual big building for the library so that's a big con to us. in most classrooms we have projectors through which we were taught regular and apart from that our classes are filled with aspiring young minds of upcoming India. clubs are going to play a major role in our college life once u enter GCT there are almost 9 students who run clubs in which u can join and develop ur skills scgct, tamizh, mandram, mufx, eliminators.

hostel life is totally different until u have seen. u will totally get depressed after completing those 4 years and while leave ur hostels coz these hostel lives gather up golden memories in its meantime. mess food in hostel is quite pathetic but the positive thing is that u r allowed to go out of campus until some particular time so u can definitely reach out to good hotels to serve ur desire for food. hostel registration is not a big deal at all hostel department will take care of that.
