SVIT Vasad Civil 2009-2013 batch

Admission was totally online. Counseling was provided through the booklet. I was under the OBC quota. I was having low marks so I wanted to have a good college and okayish field rather than having the best field and okayish college. I read about SVIT civil branch through my seniors they gave me good feedback as SVIT had good professors many of them were PhD. I focused on quality of education more than focusing on placement. Because a placement can lift you only once in your lifetime strong knowledge base stays with you forever.

I wanted to choose mechanically but the cut-off was high so the next priority was civil. The faculty-student ratio was around 1:3. Faculty were highly qualified most of them were PhD. Teaching method was good. I arranged site visits for my college so that more and more students have exposure to the site and construction. I took my batch to Kandla port jetty. 13 construction was going on. Exams are conducted as per GTU norms.

Students become eligible from the 7th semester for campus placements. Companies visited are as follows:- 1. Linde- 3.6 LPA 2. L&T- 4 LPA 3. GACL- 4.5 LPA 4. Reliance Industry Limited- 4& 5LPA based on your performance and other criteria. 5. TCS-3 LPA 10 students were placed in a batch of 60. There were many who didnt opt for placement as they had a family business. I guess nobody from our batch took TCS seriously. because we were not interested in computers and programming at that level of time. I was placed in Reliance industries limited but I got admission in NICMAR Pune for Advance Construction Management Course and also In CEPT for Structural Engineering design. I choose to have work experience so I worked in reliance industries for a year and then did mtech in structural engineering design from CEPT Ahmedabad.

I think in 3rd year there was a fee hike but after various rounds of consultation fee hike was revoked. I did not have any scholarship but there is a various scheme in college as per government rules and regulations.

Prakash was held in an even semester and Vision was held in the odd semester. The vision was a one-day event while Prakash is a 3-4 day event which includes sports day, annual day, and techfest. The library has a good collection of books. I used to prefer standard books and not GTU books as GTU books are very brief and precise to clear exams. Sports and extracurricular activities were not that good.
