Remarks
I applied for IIT Roorkee, IIT Kanpur, IIT Guwahati, DTU, NSUT and IIT Delhi. My first preference being IIT Delhi. So as in the counselling process I manage to get IIT Delhi with the course B.Tech in Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering. The whole of the admission criteria and counselling process was held online due to pandemic. The process was quite simple. We had to submit some basic documents like Aadhar Card, Bank Details(they consider SBI or Kotak Mahindra Bank only). Counselling was done by JoSAA. Then after locking up our choice of the college and course, admission fees were submitted. After a few days, I got an email having my enrollment number and class declaration announcement.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course due to two reasons. First, I'm interested in research work which is great in the Biotech field. Secondly, I got the college of my dreams. The course is really nice as far as I know. The faculty to student ratio is approximately 30:100. The faculty here is really qualified, most of the faculty has got their doctorate degrees from foreign well-known universities. All of them have a specific and unique teaching method. They are really cooperative but you have to give your best as well. You yourself have to stay in touch with them. About exams, we have regular quizzes, either weekly or once in 15 days. There are two mid-terms(called minors) and an end-semester exam (called majors). Every course has got its own evaluation scheme.
Internships Opportunities
Companies like Amazon, Wipro, Unilever are really active in institution level placements. You can get projects from the professors of your department as well. If you want to go for research work, highly recommended. The profs here will provide you with a recommendation letter that'll help you always. Generally. internships have a stipend of 8k~10k. And for projects, you usually get extra credits or Non-DPE units.
Placement Experience
There are 8 semesters overall. A student becomes eligible after 6 semesters for campus placements. Meanwhile, you can go for internships after sem1 only. About 100 companies visit the college every year. And IITD has a really high placement percentage (~80%).
Fees and Financial Aid
general - 124k, obc/sc/st - 12k, many scholarships are available here. Haven't got a job yet. But the placement ratio is really fine and internships are good too. We've got an OCS (Office of career consultation), that provides you really good opportunities to maintain yourself as a professional person. Mock interviews are held. Sometimes you're the interviewer that really helps to build up your confidence.
Campus Life
IITD's annual fest is one of the biggest fests or Asia, that is Rendezvous. It is usually a 3-4 days fest held in the month of October generally every year. IITD has NSS, NSO, NCC. NSS is national social services. In it many activities so as for social services are helpful. It has its own annual fest namely, Kaizen, which is really fun. NSS includes social groups like letters of hope, BloodConnect, Udayan, Saksham etc. Dance, music, art, debate, literature, quizzing and many more cultural clubs are there as well. Also, technical clubs like Axlr8 (motor driving club), Rutag (one for rural technical development), Robotics, AI&ML (artificial intelligence and machine learning) and many more are included. Infrastructure is one of the finest. The LIbrary has got more than 15k books, having almost from each genre. You can go and grab a book anytime you want. No time limitations in the hostel. Wardens are really sweet. Moreover, the fast food corners, the campus life along with your friend is something fun.
Hostel Facilities
Rooms are fully acquainted with basic needs. The water supply is 24x7. The meal quality is good but really time restricted. YOu've to be really disciplined when in IIT-D. But that is something I guess helps you only. There are no time limitations in the hostel. You can go out and come in anytime you want. But, people from out of the hostel are not allowed unless taken permission, inside the hostel. Most you can go in is the common room.
