Entrance Preview
I scored 84% in my +2 from CBSE Board. I wanted to study in a good college which is good in reputation as well as provides exposure for future, hence opted for St. Xaviers.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course was great. It was very vast and had lot of depth. We touched upon every aspect of Physics. It gave me good insight on every area and hence prepared me to pursue specialisation in post graduation. The only issue in my time there was that we had to prepare with university exams as one of the focus areas, although learning was fun, this made us some times read only to get good score in exam.
Internships Opportunities
Not aware of internship, maybe they have started in recent times. In my time there were once or twice guest lectures but never saw an intern.
Placement Experience
Placement cell is good. I got placed through the placement cell. They invite lots of companies in final year. However not all the companies offer great package. Only a few are worth pursuing. None the less attending many interviews from all type of sectors gives you a good feel of what you need to prepare for industry.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees is feasible, I used to pay INR 500 monthly for college and 1200 for Hostel fees. In recent times they have increased this many folds. Still one of the most affordable good colleges in country with best education. If you for Computer science or any other lab/facilities, extra charges will be accordingly applied. Its more on the choice of subjects based than fixed structure.
Campus Life
Campus life is good. There are events and occasions celebrated throughout the year. So unless you are part of those study courses like Hons in science, you will have good amount of time to participate in such extracurricular activities. Their Football team is one of the best in city and matches on college ground are pretty intense.
Admission
I had 84% in my +2 examination which helped me make the cut off list for admission. A small interview and I was through for Physics Hons admission. Entire process took 1 month in which I had to travel to city for admission. In recent years things have improved and now students can apply remotely from their hometown. Also possibly cutoffs have been increased for admission.
Faculty
Faculty is good and supportive. They encourage students to approach them with as many questions as they can come up with. They have loads of patience. They are very knowledgeable too and provide students with confidence to go beyond the books and explore the topics. Except hen close to exam days, they always focussed on learning first, exams second approach.
