I have scored around 94 percentile in GATE examination and joined VIT for M.Tech. The admission process is so transparent and organized. Live status of seats is displayed during counseling.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum contained advanced topics in computer science. The latest trends were considered in preparing the curriculum. The syllabus matches international standards. Students have flexibility in selecting the subjects each semester. The credit system is flexible to this.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, I got into my current job through an internship. Intel - 20000, Vm Ware - 20000, Net App - 30000, Honeywell - 15000, Alcatel - 15000, Altair - 15000 these were some of the companies came and took students for internship.
Placement Experience
Excellent placement cell is available. Job opportunities are limitless and great companies visit here. Training and coaching are done for Placements. CTS - 3.5 LPA, TCS - 3.5 LPA, Microsoft, Facebook, Google, Thought works, Comm Vault, Deloitte. These are the companies visited in that year. every year, not less than 1800 students are placed in CTS alone.
College Events
The technical and cultural fests are celebrated like anything here. Gravitas, Riviera is keeping the pride of the college at the international level. Guests used to be big shots all the time. It used to be a festive feel everywhere during such functions. The events used to be so huge and crowd puller.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure used to be a little high, compared to other colleges. But, if you match the facilities, it's fair enough. In the year, I joined (2010), the fee was 1.25 lacs per year as tuition fee. 35000 was the hostel fee (per semester including food).
Fees and Financial Aid
The scholarship was provided for the top two gate scorers in each department. And, the complete tuition fee was waived for them too.
Campus Life
Usually, the gender ratio is 50:50. In my class, it was too different. It was a 90:10 M: F ratio. There used to be a lot of cultural societies and events, which made everyone culturally united. Hostel facilities are great. The infrastructure is well planned.
Alumni/Alumna
The Alumni network is poor. We used to get emails sometimes and always were there on the ignored mail list. Senior students were never seen at all, as they will be in an internship when the next batch joins.
Exam Structure
Exams are usually not that tightly scheduled. We used to get enough breathing time and revision time. Labs were not that strict, and application-level questions were never asked. All the lab questions were already tried practical session questions. Exams used to be tough, but teachers tend to make them pass always. Very rarely, students used to fail in papers.
Admission
I had applied through the online application form and paid the registration fee as D.D. The written exam was optional since I had a GATE score valid enough to get an admission. The results were out soon, and based on the rank, called for counseling. Based on your rank, you will be called for counseling and you can pick any seat from the remaining seats in the applicable branches.
Faculty
Some of the faculty are exceptionally brilliant. While the majority lacks an updated knowledge base. The faculty behavior also is unprofessional at times. But there used to be continuous evaluation of faculty and refining. The student-teacher relation was good. Most of the faculty are having a helping mentality (even though they are not capable enough to contain our doubts).
