I chose this university only because of the fact that I have heard from my teachers and friends that BITS is one of the best universities in India and it offers best placement opportunity. So I have applied for the course of BE in Chemical Engineering in BITS and then I had to give a computer based online test for admission. Finally I got admission on the basis of my score in BITSAT exam.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is very much helpful for us to fulfil the requirements of industry. The 1st year Curriculum consists of general idea of all the courses. While from the second year, the main course structure starts. My department offeres 10 optional electives from which I have chosen a subject for specialization on the basis of my choice. Placement Experience
Almost 100% my batchmates get placed either through summer internship programme (SI), or PS, i.e., practice school in the final year and also through on-campus placements. The on-campus placement season is conducted throughout the year or throughout 12 months, which is not found in most colleges.The avg package offered was around 5 LPA. The highest salary package offered was 16 LPA. Some Top recruiting companies are like-Zydus ,Wipro,Viacom18 Media Pvt. Ltd, Tesco, Tata Steel, Tata Technologies, Price Waterhouse Coopers(PwC).
Fee Structure And Facilities
The total fees for four years BE program is near about 16 lakh qhich is quiet expensive. The fees structure included per semester tuition fees Rs.178000, Other fees for per semester near about Rs.12000. Only in first semester extra fees like admission fees Rs.39800 is to be given. So in an average per semester course fees is near about 4 Lakhs. A large number of scholarships and other financial assistance are available. Basically there are two types of scholarship scheme- Institute's own merit award scheme, Institute's own merit-cum-need awards scheme. I got 80% tuition fee waiver as I was eligible for merit cum means scholarship.
Campus Life
I have experienced a wonderful campus life. I got the facility of modern well maintained classroom, a specific area on the campus for the student activity centre (SAC), which is centre for all sports and refreshing activities, which also includes a gym. All the sports courts, be it basketball, tennis, volleyball, etc., are well maintained and periodically undergo a high versed cleaning process. I got the opportunity to access lots of books, periodicals, around 3000 current journals etc from the university Library. There are three major fests are organised in my university and I have enjoyed a lot by participating in those fests. Atmos- the Technical Fest, Arena - the sports fest and Pearl - This is the cultural feat of the campus.
