Umeschandra College: Where Quality Education meets Affordable Rates

Besides Umeschandra College, I had applied to a number of colleges, including the City College (CCCBA), Heramba Chandra College, Maulana Azad College and. I was eligible for all of the colleges, but decided to choose Umeschandra College for two main reasons: a. The faculty is excellent and extremely helpful. A great learning environment is what every student hopes for. b. The college is closest to my residence and hence, traveling time could be cut down significantly when offline classes resume. I did not avail any quota for admission. The admission criteria for Umeschandra College into the B.Com Honours stream for the batch of 2020-2023 was: a. Minimum marks: 65% in 10+2 Board Examinations b. Minimum age: 18 years The merit lists were released according to the cut-off percentage. The admission process was extremely smooth and hassle-free.

I chose B.Com Honours in Accounting and Finance as I wish to pursue a career in this field. The faculty: student ratio is around 1: 30 The faculty of the college is extremely good. Almost all the teachers are PhD holders and some of the junior teachers are in the process of getting it. Every teacher is extremely interactive and is willing to help students understand even the hardest concepts very clearly. According to the 1+1+1 semesterized system, exams for each semester are conducted every 6 months. Due to the current pandemic situation, exams are being held online. Hence, the question papers are a bit tougher than previous years, as they aim to make the students think and apply their knowledge rather than rote memorization. However, since the entire syllabus was completed weeks before, we had enough time to revise the syllabus 2-3 times. This made the exam quite easy to pass.

Umeschandra College provides internship opportunities to its students on a fairly regular basis. Seminars and workshops are conducted to get more students interested in internship. Companies like TCS, Wipro, etc. visit the college yearly.

Students become eligible for campus placements after the 6th semester. Umeschandra college is visited yearly by many renowned companies like TCS and Wipro. The number of students selected for placements is very low. After getting my degree, I wish to apply for placements and get selected for internships, as this will improve my work experience, thereby opening up many more opportunities for me in the future.

The cost to study in this college is extremely menial. The yearly fee is around 3790 rupees. Due to the pandemic situation, no application fees were charged. For admission, a bit more than 5000 rupees was charged, including the fees for the first year. Hence, for students looking for quality education at very affordable fees, Umeschandra College is the place to be.

The Annual Fest of the college takes place around June-July. However, it is currently closed due to the pandemic. The library of the college is home to a vast collection of books on various fields of study. It is a haven for students and teachers alike. Every classroom is equipped with desks and benches for the students, and boards for the teachers. Umeschandra College takes part in many sports activities within and outside the college premises. The main sports practiced here are football, cricket, and table tennis. There is a Facebook group exclusively for Umeschandra College students and alumni.
